    save $50 for open/damaged stock… i don't think so… if it was this price for a new undamaged one, i'd consider it…

      I agree, but if one was going to purchase a slingbox pro to begin with, then this may be a viable bargain.
      It would also be pointless to get one unless you have cable, or travel internationally/inter-state.

        It'd cost you HEAPS in data costs to stream like that. Good for the US where there are literally unlimited transfer volumes and decent upload speeds, but it'd be pretty painful trying to work with 500k or less that we Aussies seem to expect from normal broadband connections.

          Not really, I personally run one out of my home in Sydney, I am with TPG and they have un-metered uploads, on a trip the the US last year I watched all my footy with my laptop connected to a projector and the picture and sound where great, think there even may be a vid on youtube somewhere of it in action.. haha found it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndEiKvsIpVw

    This is for the Pro version which is $499 from JB Hi-Fi, not the other cheaper models. So $250 is a bargain I reckon.

    looks a bargain. I have the cheaper model and a Hava Monsoon, data costs on adsl from home and out with 3G and wifi - iPhone/Galaxy etc.. no more than without these streaming units.

    you need at least 5mb/s upload speed for it to work smoothly in HD mode

      The Slingbox Pro does not stream in HD, its the ProHD that does so upload plan of 1Mb/s is fine, it works fine from 300kb/s, Slingbox has technology called SlingStream that compresses the stream at different levels depending on the bandwidth available. FYR I stream at an average of 600Kb/s as the picture and audio is great.

        the common adsl2+ internet plans only has a max of 1Mb/s upload which is 128KB/s
