not everyone lives in NSW Metro

      • -1

Appliances Online could have helped you out.

    • I got a 3.5KW from that deal, but you'll be waiting a long time waiting for another deal that good.

Bought one. Stupid question, how much should it cost to have it installed in metro Melbourne?
I can't really install it myself can I?

    • +3

      $500+

    • +4

You technically could do it yourself, but you need things like a vacuum pump so nah - pay someone. According to this: https://www.serviceseeking.com.au/blog/cost-of-split-system-… expect from $400 to $800 depending on factors like difficulty. It should be on the lower end of that range - just get three quotes.

      Oh, and FYI https://www.google.com/amp/s/m.wikihow.com/Install-a-Split-S…

    • Back to back looking at around $700

Get a pro to do it. Skimping on this can cost you more.

    • $600 flat fee when I ordered a 3.5 kW install from The Good Guys when I bought the AC from their eBay store. (Brisbane)

Apparently the install being arranged through TGG means that the AC warranty is valid because their guys have the right tickets etc. I'm no expert, but it was a fast and painless, good quality workmanship install.

      • +1

600 flat for back to back install, mine ended up being 900ish because it was non standard roof install. Still super quick and painless, the installers were great.

    • It depends on the set up on your home, if it's back to back and requires more piping. Airtasker have going rates for $450 and up.

  • Good price. But this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/451852
    Was a better deal

    • +2

I agree but it was pretty much exclusive to NSW. This one is a little more accessible to more people

  • Thanks OP. Noob question, what is the max room size/volume this would work for?

Also how does this brand compare to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (I've heard they are the best).

    • my guess is a typical size bedroom would be suitable with this

      This should help :)

2.5 is usually fine for small/medium bedrooms.

    • +1

2.5kW is usually fine for up to 15 square metres. That being said, there are a lot of variables that can impact the effectiveness of an aircon (insulation, sun exposure, decent curtains, ceiling height etc.)

In regards to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries - they're generally regarded as a bit more reliable and output a little more air (though this is more noticeable in units with the large indoor head).

Cheap installers in Melbourne eastern suburbs? I paid $600 including electrical and wall mounting the outside unit on ground floor. It was the best price I could get but apparently ozbargainers pay around $400?

    • +1

      "OZBARGAIN RECOMMENDED" tradies list.
      I'm down for that.

    • Yep would love if anyone has any suggestions?

  • Dam, paid at least $300 more during summer for thr Panasonic equivalent..oh well.. Can't help thr summer heat

Thanks OP! Been waiting for this deal for a while.
Bought the 3.5kw instead, works out to be $559 (after 10% off eBay giftcards & $150 cash back).

    • Is there any ways to buy 10% off eBay giftcards now? thanks.

      • Not as far as I know, hope Woolies brings it back again.

  • hey guys, im here to install the aircon if you need
$600 standard back to back. includes running new circuit and new safety switch.

    • name of business?

  • brisbane and surrounding areas

  • Doesn't post to NT. 2.5kW is pretty low capacity for any application here in the NT anyway!
