  • Century batteries suck. Steer clear. Supercharge, Varta or any Japanese made battery - yaesu , is the way to go.

    • I would concur. They dont last long.

    • +2
      1. Century batteries suck - Why do they suck? did you have a bad experience? what were the circumstances?

      2. Supercharge are made in the Phillipines, Varta are made in Germany, and Yaesu don't make automotive batteries, perhaps you're thinking of Yuasa who are made in Australia by Century.

      • Far too many problems with Century batteries that they're not worth the dime spent on it. Reclaimed lead , sub-par plates, badly constructed cases and terminals. high internal impedance, premature sulphation etc etc… I've had far too many problems with Centuy's. I've even go as far to say buy Exide than Century.

GS-Yuasa are Japanese. Huge difference of the Century-Yuasa made here and the imported GS Yuasa, MIJ OR the USA.

        • Where are you buying imported "GS-Yuasa" batteries from?

          • @tromboc: I buy mine from the car and motorcycle dealers who have access to import channels. They even encourage you to purchase overseas batteries because they hate dealing with warranty issues on the crappy centurys.

You'll pay a little more but ask your local car dealer, leave repco , sca selling centuries for ppl that are willing to take the risk. Id never install one in my kids or wifes car.

      • Nu? So, where are Repco RED batteries made?
(We bought some @ $99 a while ago) Any Good?

    • Have no opinion/experience with Century personally, but I agree in that I would rather buy a Japanese battery.

Recently had to buy a new battery for a Mazda 3 and the battery mentioned in OP (Century ISS Battery Q85, 650CCA) matches the requirement for most newer Mazda's with Skyactiv start-stop. Went and got a Japanese made, OEM quality Panasonic battery for $50 less fitted instead, seemed like a no brainer to me.

      • Who sells Panasonic vehicular batteries [at good prices, for the brand]…?

We're [also] looking for a longer life battery for a SAAB 900i sedan…
EU made vehicles have reversed + and - terminals (for safety? Our
SAABs' + terminal is farther from - side of car)

        • +1

I got it from Every Battery, they told me they're the official supplier for Panasonic in Aus. Though theyve upped the price since I bought it a few weeks ago from $300 to $318 (still good value, esp being Q100 it is actually over rated for a Mazda).

Though from what I understand Panasonic's are made for Japanese cars, and euros need a different type and have their own brands (Varta is the top German made unit). If it has stop start it would be AGM type which is not compatible with EFB Jap type batteries.

    • Yaesu make 2-way radios… ham, CB, commercial, digital (Fusion System), etc.

But ISS batteries are intriguing… Imagine making vehicle batteries on the ISS!
I'm surprised the shipping alone (both ways) hasn't made their manufacture -
up there - economically unfeasable… I guess Space X has made an offer,
the battery co. couldn't resist. ;~)

Oops! Sorry… My brain doesn't work as well at 2 am = final Edit time of post.

  • Century are not what they used to be….Stick with Supercharge/Supercharge Gold.

Longer warranty too - Last time I waited until 40% off at Autobarn and bought one - great value!

  • 25% of Century Batteries

How much for 100% of Century Batteries?

  • Repco has 40% off Supercharge batteries

  • My last 2 century 4wd batteries were lucky to last 2 years. Damn shame as they are Australian made. As much as I don't want to I'll have to look at imported batteries now

    • Yep my 4wd one lasted just shy of 2 years. Seriously thinking about lead crystal from now on.
