    Exynos vs Snapdragon comparison:
    https://www.anandtech.com/show/13582/samsung-galaxy-note9-pe…

Tldr: Snapdragon has better battery life and performance.

Whether it's worth $100 is up to the end user. I personally had the exynos version previously and didn't have any complaints about battery life or performance. Snapdragon will have better modded Google Camera support for those interested.

    • My 2 friends owned Samsung Phones with SD processor, one had Note 8 other had S8+ while I purchased the Exynos variant of Note 8. Turns out after a while they both were having screen burn issues with their phones and my note 8 is working flawlessly. I don't know why it happened to them but it kind of made me avoid the SD variant TBH otherwise SD seems faster in review videos on YouTube.

Is there any problem using Snapdragon version for Internet banking or NFC payment use in Australia?

    • +1

I'm not sure what the latest information is regarding the use of Samsung Pay in Australia on a device that isn't running Australian firmware. But I'm certain Google Pay would work. Your internet banking apps would work as well.

      • Thanks for the information. :)

      • Can we flash OZ firmware on this without stuffing up NOX?

        • Yes you can

        • Not really.

With the Galaxy 9 range the phones come with a multi CSC firmware.

You can apparently change the sales code https://whrl.pl/Rfawpa

Doing that is the same as flashing to Australian firmware.

        • IIRC, you can only flash Australian firmware on devices that have the Exynos chipset. I am not sure what would happen if you attempt to flash said firmware on a Snapdragon model. The flashing might fail or the device might get bricked altogether.

  • Hmmmmm…should I
Will it go lower? When 10 is out?

    • +1

You can check the price change of Note 8 when Note 9 is out. It will follow similar pattern in price change I guess.

    • It will always go lower, eventually. The price is good now, is it worth it for you?

      • +1

I’d expect it to be a fair amount of time before it gets a decent amount lower than this. $738 for a Note 9 is amazing value. Less than half the price when it was launched if I remember correctly.

Good seller Ordered on the 19th and received on 27th from previous deal

    • +1

Was your phone factory sealed or just a repack like most of the sellers on ebay?

      • +2

        Mine was sealed

      • +2

Mine was factory sealed. Extremely happy and would use again in a heart beat!

      • +1

Yep same, sealed and sent fast. UK plug charger, an adapter was included though.very happy.

I also ordered from this seller, 15th May. Order sent out via Express Post on Monday 20th. Factory sealed Samsung box.

The N960FD is UAE region, so Samsung Pay will not work in Australia*, however Google Pay does work.
Some other Aus carrier specific functions may not work either (untested)

'*' You can "easily" change the region to Australia. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/how-to/guide-…
If you flash the TEL CSC like I did, I confirm that VoLTE and WiFi Calling is functioning with a Telstra Sim.
The second SIM slot still shows up in the settings, however I have not tested if you can actually run in dual SIM when running the TEL CSC.

The N960FD is UAE region, so Samsung Pay will not work in Australia

I bought one during last 15% off eBay sale & can confirm even it is a UAE version, but

        • I was able to register my Australian card with Samsung Pay without changing the region or the firmware.

        • Same with VOLTE & WiFi calling, they both worked out of the box.

        • +1

Is there any band difference with this and Australian stock note9?

          • @ozizoy: The N960FD is the same phone as sold in Australia stores like JB-HiFi, Harvey Norman, etc.
The non FD version is available in Australia via Telstra, Optus, etc.

        • I didn't try the Note 9 with the UAE firmware, I flashed it out of the box.
The S8 FD version I had previously didn't work for any of the WiFi Calling, VoLTE, Samsung Pay functions while it had UAE region.
Samsung Pay complained about the region being incorrect.

          • @Rajserp:

The S8 FD version I had previously didn't work for any of the WiFi Calling, VoLTE, Samsung Pay functions while it had UAE region.
Samsung Pay complained about the region being incorrect.

You’re correct. I had same issues with my S7 edge FD model with HK firmware. Samsung Pay, VOLTE, WiFi Calling didn’t work on it until I flashed with Oz firmware.

But it seems like Samsung has changed something in recent years (i.e removing region locks). That’s probably why my UAE version of Note 9 worked straight out of the box with these services.

  • Dang That is even better price, I purchased two from last deals. Delivery was more than 1 week, but overall, I am happy.

Tempted to get one for my dad but wonder if you can switch to different regions firmware without triggering NOX? He needs Chinese firmware for Samsung pay in mainland.

    • Dunno if this helps, I bought the Snapdragon version and it has the Hong Kong firmware and charger.

Geesh……cheaper than only a fortnight ago!

      • Thanks for the info but mainland has like a completely different OS. Eg. No google play, payment over there also differs from the rest of the world. I read the whirlpool thread given by spaceflight and it's probably not doable because Samsung Chinese CSC is not part of OXM family.

    Very good phone

  • I would buy it if there is 512gb storage or even 256gb.

  • For those interested in rooting and custom roms, although the Snapdragon variant is technically better, the Exynos variant has far more ROM's available on XDA
