Mod: Deal for Samsung was originally $1184 but was raised to $1232. As the price rise was only 4%, the deal is kept unexpired and edited with this note, rather than expired completely for a more significant rise in price. The other deals in the body remain unchanged in price.

I'm pretty happy with the interface of my 7-series in terms of features and lag. The voice feature gets in the way sometimes though.

Can anyone comment on the interface on Hisense tvs?

    • I’ve heard they can be a bit laggy, but, that’s really just conjecture, it’d be great to hear from owners to see if they’ve improved their Smart TV interface and software in the last little bit.

They’ve released a new ad campaign ‘Hisense; how good’, which I can see being lambasted.

      • We got one last week, habent had any lag issues. However we are coming from an older samsung smart tv which had shocking lag, so it may be a case of seeming good comparitively

        • I reckon trust your own judgement, chances are that if you don’t notice any lag that there probably isn’t any. :)

  • Wow, $1200 for an OLED. There's some discussion here on the 55" OLED Hisense if people are looking for impressions.

    • does Hisense use the same OLED panel as samsung and LG?

or are the bin panels of LG/Samsung..

      • +1

Hisense use … OLED panel as samsung

Samsung don’t make OLED TV panels, they, like all except LG (and resellers - Panasonic, Sony and Hisense) top-tier, use LCD panels with either LED or QD backlight. Only LG make OLED TV panels.

        • so all the other brands besides LG cannot call their panels OLED and it is not true OLED either?

          • @pinkybrain: Summary: LG, Panasonic, Sony and Hisense top-tier models use LG OLED TV panels. Everything else uses LCD TV panels.

          • @pinkybrain: No everyone else like sony, hisense, Panasonic and Philips oleds use lg made oled panel's. Samsung does not make oleds nor has any oled tv's. Samsung make qleds which are just LCD tv's.

            • @Immer besser: so other companies like hisense calling it oled is false advertising?

              • @pinkybrain: No as the hisense oled is a real oled screen made by lg. Hisense just have control of the software and hardware.

              • @pinkybrain: Other companies buy the OLED screens from LG and make the rest of the TV and software themselves.

Price gone up? Showing $1232 for me

    • Price jacked, still cheaper than previous deal.

    • $1,287 with delivery for me.

      • Yeah same - $1232 before delivery

        • Same, 1232 before delivery :(

    • +2

Damn lol.. not sure what to do with this one as the other deals are still valid, chucked in a report to the mods and marked as Expired in the meantime for clarity :)

    • +1

that's crap that they priced jacked it.

How is the menu lag? My Sony Bravia 4K from 2017 running on Android can be a bit laggy at times.

    • I feel your pain on this one. I also have to pretty much reset it on a daily basis for it to work properly. Such a joke. I hope the new Oreo update will help (whenever they finally release it down under).

      • I have 75" RU7100 and the menu is quite snappy since it does not have the fancy animations like in the higher end models.

Samsung tv runs their own os, pretty smooth

      • -8

That's good to hear. Yeah never buy a Sony.

  • The same ol question, this or a Hisense P7?

    • why are people downvoting this?

  • +1

    The 65PX is so tempting

  • +16

Just a warning when buying newer Samsung TVs that they won't play AVI files or MKVs with DTS Sound due to licencing issues, the TV is perfectly capable of playing them (It renders a thumbnail), the function is just disabled by Samsung.

If you're the type that likes playing files from a usb or a network share without transcoding, consider Hisense instead.

    • +1

This wouldn't apply to using something like an external android box to play those files right?

      • +1

When it comes to avi files, you can play via external box not a problem. Or use inbuilt Plex app if you are streaming via a Plex server.
Problem is with internal Samsung movie playing up if you connect your hdd straight to a tv. Sadly they stopped support of certain divx avi files from 2018.

        • +1

AVI files are not popular these days..

the most popular type of files nowadays are MKVs so that is crap that disabled the function..
though if we got a htpc or android mediaplayer box, would that be much off an issue?

          • @pinkybrain: Any media box will work fine, or if you steam from a PC it can transcode using DLNA it's only a concern if you want to play very old (avi) or get very high quality MKVs with DTS sound AND try and play them directly from a usb drive.

    • -2

that's okay, most people probably got a htpc or a android media player box anyway..

what native media player does samsung use btw?
Also this problem you talking about is, when we browse the usb connected hdd etc
and it will show the thumbnail but won't play these files?

what OS do these samsung tv use e.g. android tv or some other?
What apps can we install on these samsung TVs?

  • No local dimming on the RU7000 is a deal breaker for me. :/ But, it’s still a good price.

  • The price appears as $1540 and the code is not applicable. Is the deal dead?

    • Please see the mod note in the OP :) And the coupon works fine for me?

  • +5

    I want a deal on a 75"

    • They have the UA75RU7100WXXY for $1756 + $70 delivery.

  • Anyone know how the Hisense P8 65" fairs up? Is it worth getting over this and the P7?

    • This is a non-benchmarked review of the P8, from finder of all places. Might help if you’re unsure.

      • Judging from that piece, the cons outweigh the pros. Seems like the P7 is better equipped for my needs. Either that or the 75inch from LG.

  • wish they had NU8000. this has good reviews..

  • How does this go against the Q75 QLED?

  • Is the $150 visa card usable anywhere?

ie just like a normal credit card you can use to checkout on any online shopping sites?

    • +1

Yes, anywhere that accepts credit card. Could put the $150 towards a bill (electricity, rates, gas, car rego etc.)

  • +1

Also found this QLED on sale - QA55Q60RAWXXY Samsung 55 Inch Series 6 Q60 QLED 4K TV for $1274 delivered, seems like a sweet deal.

  • +1

    Still waiting for the 75"

  • +3

So they've put shipping up from yesterdays price of $55 to $125 - pretty poor form as it's now a double jack on the original offering

  • Back in stock?

  • Ok is it just me or does anyone else get an error saying "This code can't be applied to your order." when they try to purchase one of these items? I am looking at getting the Hisense 55PX OLED but it really doesn't want me to get it. Been trying for days but the code never works.

    • Hey there, if that error is coming up, it's most likely an account error. Just hop on eBay live chat and mention the issue and they'll sort it out for you in no time.

      • Thanks, I'll give it a go.

  • RU7100 is out of stock. (at least not with 150$ gift card).

  • So I bought a 55" QLED TV during this promo. However, I'm not that happy with the pictures so far. When whites are displayed corners and edges are darker. Especially the bottom edge has a much darker faded line. It's always there, but more visible when whites are displayed.

Also when blacks are displayed there are big white patches on corners and somewhere in the middle. I'm guessing this is normal somehow, due to clouding etc.

Anyone having the same experience with there TVs? Is this normal?

  • i need this, any other deals?

  • I have not received mine yet. Has everyone else got it?
