  • Seems like just women's (Adelaide boots etc), and not Comfort Craftsmans?

    • +1

      Nope both are listed

ONLINE EXCLUSIVE COMFORT CRAFTSMAN - Black, Bordeaux, Coffee, Espresso, Red earth

      • I can't seem to see this option on the website. Link?

      • You're correct! My laptop doesn't have the comfort craftsman, but clicking on my phone shows them (?!)

  • Distressed leather :( would have been better with regular leather. Nothing buy but thanks for sharing

    • Can you elaborate please? What's the main issue with these?

      • A bit of personal preference. But the care can be different as compared to regular leather where you dust off and then either apply conditioner or polish.

      • +2

Distressed leather has a worn look straight out of the box, there are slight variations in colour and texture on the boot. The black craftsmen and the dark brown ones show this clearly in the photos. I think these would be good for casual wear mainly, or if you’re in a casual office. Definitely not for suits.

        • -3

RM Williams shouldn't be worn in an office or with suits. Seems out of character. But I'm use to seeing them worn on farms, so I guess I'm bias.

          • +3

@serpserpserp: I see tonnes of suits wearing them, don’t know what you are on about

            • @fantacular: All comes down to personal preference like anything. Personally I think RMs look bad with suits (too chunky, even Signature), but lots of people wear them in Australia and they’re somewhat the norm. All depends on the work environment though I think.
Wearing polished and cleaned shoes, regardless of what they are, with suits/office attire, is much more important.

              • -3

@The Almighty Dollar: Exactly, they are workwear/farm boots. Not sure of the message people are trying to send wearing them in the office. Wannabe farmer? Young liberal party member? shrugs

          • +2

@serpserpserp: I don't know what farms you're seeing them on, but I've only ever seen office staff in big horse stud offices, farm owners/managers who never do any actual work or farmers leaving the farm to go to meetings/races wear them

            • @sp0rk: You'd be surprised at how many owners of farms actually run them.

              • @serpserpserp: Oh definitely, I work with a lot of them in the equine industry
But those guys are wearing cheap US made boots (ugh, western styles), Ariat H2Os or just regular old work boots

  • How's the fitting like with RM Williams? I usually wear New Balance or VANS UK 7.

    • +5

Personally i'd say on the larger side. Best to head to a store to get properly fitted.

      • Yup, I normal wear 10.5. For RW comfort craftsman it's 8 for me when I tried it out few weeks ago. Luckily I didn't pull the trigger…

        • 2.5 size difference?

          • +2

@xaykogeki: 1.5 to 2 in my opinion. They also have different widths. Highly recommend trying them on.

      • Thanks. I'll visit them when I get a chance.

    • +3

Of course best trying on, but otherwise go true to size. So if you’re a UK7, go a 7 in these (which are AU sizes, but they’re the same as UK). All my work shoes are a UK10, including RMs, but my runners (Nike) are a UK10.5/Us11.5).

      • Seconded, i usually get UK 7s in boots and a 7G was a perfect fit when i tried in store

    • +1

The sizes are so very different, Im a US 10 in my runners/streeet shoes, but a 7.5 H (wide) in RMs. Go get fitted at a store, then buy online. you want your 400$ shoes to fit right.

    • +1

If you can, go into an RM Williams store and find your size, they are very helpful and don't pressure you to buy there.

    • +1

I'm a US9 in sneakers, UK 7.5 in RMs. Go up in width if you're worried, the length is usually roomy.

  • Any recommendations out there for shoe trees to fit these boots? Trimly appear good but on the expensive side and no sale at the moment.

    • Plenty like these going for around $20. I bought two sets a year ago and haven't had any problems in my RMs. Have never owned name brand shoe trees to compare.

    • +3

Have owned both eBay and Trimly and there is no comparison, the ebay ones are odd shapes and one set that i bought arrived fully lacquered which defeats the purpose as the wood is supposed to absorb moisture but obviously cant as it sealed.

Save your money and get the Trimly ones, i think it was buy one get one free so i bought two pairs and the ebay ones are on a shelf somewhere.

      • Thanks for the recommendation. Spent a bit extra and went with Trimly.

  • This boot is Made to Order - your order will ship in 4-6 weeks. These boots are crafted by hand in Australia. As these boots are not held in stock, and are produced only to order, they cannot be exchanged or returned.

    :(

    • You beat me to it. Look like RW will go purchases the leather after you place the order…

  • "ORDER EST DELIVERY: 6-8 WEEKS"…

Also as already pointed out. Crafted from Vintage Distressed Leather, not the Yearling Leather as the full price ones. Make sure you is aware of it before pull the trigger.

  • +1

    How much are they usually?

    • Was wondering this too. And for those who own them, are they worth $395..?

      • +1

yes. have had my boots for 3 years now (comfort turnouts) and have not missed a beat. wear them to the office, for nights out or going for walks. Great price at $400. I would never buy at RRP ($550-700) though, unless i have been saving up for it

        • Office as in suits? If not I do wonder if I can polish the black ones lol

  • Would anyone happen to know if TRS for this would start from the date of purchase (ie today) or the date of dispatch?

    • +1

Date of purchase as that is what is on the invoice.

    • +1

      Date of invoice

  • +3

    Shame they don't have H sizing :(

    • +7

I will trade you a pair of RMs for your house.

    • +2

Would you rather buy 20 $100 pairs of shoes, or one $395 pair for 20 years with a few new heels and soles?

      https://www.rmwilliams.com.au/boot-repair/Boot_Repair.html?l…

Plus, it'll help employ Hugh Jackman, what's not to love?

      • The boot repair list costs more then all my shoes put together.

      • 20 years LOL…

        • My mate has a 20 year old pair of RM’s.

Sure they’re not giving them away, but they’re quality and long lasting.

  • If they’re made to order, why can’t they do all sizing…?
Would you be able to exchange in store? I’m also after H sizing.

    • These colours aren't sold in store it seems. I'm not sure why they can't do H sizing, it would make sense to me.

I've ordered a pair, 0.5 size larger than my H size.

Thanks for the cashrewards tip :)

  • Not showing any results for me at this stage. Perhaps out of stock?

Oddly, ten minutes later - stock appeared!

  • +1

I talked to representatives over the phone (a store rep and a customer service online rep)
Said although they’re made to order, can’t do H (or non-regular fittings) as apparently all the leather etc. has been pre-cut.
Furthermore, T&Cs say you can’t refund or return apparently. The in-store rep said she couldn’t comment and to talk to the general customer service rep who gave the above info.

Both reps recommended that if you are an H fit, to take a half size up in the regular fit (e.g. 9.5H = 10G). But in-store rep made a point to state its only a recommendation and it may fit a little long.

    • I heard the same, why not try on some shoes in a store first?

      • +1

No time to to go in within the next week 😅

  • Side note - what sort of shoe polish do you gentlemen use with these shoes? I want a nice shiny finish for the office lol

    • +1

I've always used the RM Williams branded polish. It seems great quality, lasts forever and the colour always matches your boots exactly. I have about 3 pairs of boots and they are just the best!

      • Oakwood hydrating cream and kiwi dark tan polish on my free pair (Qantas points) chestnut craftsman. From woolies, all good.

    • look for Saphir stuff, the Renovateur is very good

can't go wrong with chamberlain's stuff either, i love the smell! they do a boot/shoe cream but i would expect the general no1 cream to be pretty good also (i use it on my saddleback wallet/passport holder). while you are buying stuff the car version is fantastic if you have leather seats.

little lusso is an australian stockist i have bought from, recommended. there are other also.

the apple stuff is best for handbags and very fine/sensitive leather

    • +1

The leather conditioner is more important than polish, is what they told me in store. I guess it’s not good having shiny shoes if the leather cracks due to dryness.

      • +1

yep, the polish is just what goes on top. the conditioner treats the base to ensure it lasts a very long time. some conditioners will remove the polish layer also as they can contain cleaners as well.

    Cashrewards for 5% back

    • 5.5% with shopback

  • Thanks mate, bought a pair

  • Thanks, also bought a pair of black craftsmans…. and Afterpay too

  • Black, Bordeaux & Red Earth are crafted in Vintage Distressed Leather
Coffee & Espresso are crafted in Hammer Suede

Is it better to get leather over suede? First time R.M'er

    • i think leather…?? however I only base that on mistakenly thinking a mate of mine's light suede boots were old, and I offended him with a comment about it being nearly time for new ones… but it turns out he had only had them a few months, paid top dollar for good RMs - he wasn't too happy. In my observation they didn't age too good compared to the leather had some spots on them etc (unless he abused them) - anyone else have experience with this?

  • +2

G'day, longtime lurker first time poster here :)

Just wanted to firstly thank the OP tdrive… got my first RM's thanks to this post. I got the leather ones in black, size 9 G. They look great!

Also wanted to jump on to say they didn't take long at all to get to me, certainly not the 4 weeks that it says…and I live regional (central QLD). Ordered 03/06/2019, received yesterday 12/06/2019.

So really good deal for anyone considering. Looks like the black ones are not on sale anymore but still some other options there.

    • Received mine last week, was very quick manufacture and deliver. Fits perfectly. Thanks OP.

      • +1

My Bordeaux ones arrived today. Fantastic addition to my rm williams boots rotation
