Aftershokz Trekz Air Bone Conduction Headphones $159 Delivered @ Wildfire Sports

250
GWF10

Thanks to LHSolutions for the $10 code!

These are also available from Amazon for $169 plus delivery (free with Prime).

The Trekz Titanium is going for $109 delivered at Wildfire, or $119 (plus shipping, free with Prime) at Amazon. They're just slightly larger and heavier than the Air.

These bone conduction headphones are great for listening to music or podcasts when you still need to hear what's happening around you, e.g. at an office desk, when cycling or jogging, when doing tasks around the house, or just walking around a busy area.

They vibrate through your skull leaving your ears open to hear what's around you. They sound great for podcasts, and OK for music if you keep in mind its limitations. They won't sound as good as earphones, but will give you better situational awareness than any earphone or headphone ambient mode.

I have a pair of these, the microphone quality is pretty good. These never go on sale, so this is a fantastic price.

    • this is the usual price at wildfire.

      • Not true, I've been to their store several times and they were always full price.

You can view their cached page here.

…and the Google cache just updated. Here is another copy.

I've got a pair of the titanium model and they're great for jogging and cycling up to about 25kph when wind noise gets too much.
You can wear ear plugs with them and they have an equalization setting that adjusts to improve the sound, so I wear them mowing etc, they always stay in place nicely, you have to try different spots on your temple to find what works best for your head. They're a bit surreal.

    • Yeah, they're pretty interesting. There was one time I forgot about them and was wondering why I was hearing music from seemingly nowhere… thought it was someone nearby with a sound system playing.

      • i did that with Bose sound-sport wireless, funny shit when you realise later

I love my pair. Use them cycling ask the time. It can be a little strange at first as you still have full awareness of ambient noise around you, which is exactly what I wanted. The integration with phone voice controls is good too. Brilliant hands free for phone calls as well.

  • Would these be suitable for using with say Discord purely for voice communications while playing video games?

  • I really liked my pair. I used them cycling and running. The failed after about 18 months. I had read reports about them not being as robust as more regular headphones. 18 months is an ok run! but I didn't replace them with another pair of Aftershokz.

    • I bought my Titanium in Jan 2017 and it's still working great today. I did snap one side off when I put it in a heavy hiking pack, but I sugrued it back together and it's still working… but the sugurued joint has broken once before, so I decided to get the Air now since they don't really go on sale often.

Absolutely love my Titataniums. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone. I also wear these in the office so I can do my teleconference calls while also still being able to listen out to other people.

It has a standby time of 20 days, lasts a VERY long time, is very comfortable (I sometimes forget I have them on) and is of course great if you are an active person.

To answer someones question above, I have no issues when using bluetooth to my PC for gaming.

Sorry. I have the AIR, not the Titanium. AIR is lighter and is the 'newer' model.

  • I highly recommend these for running. I can hear everything thats going on around me and the sound quality is very good for what they are. Also waterproof so you can still use in the rain.

  • Which would people recommend - the Air or the Titanium?

    • The Air is a tad lighter, has a more comfy and arguably nicer design, and a longer standby time. Everything else is pretty much identical to the Titanium (most importantly sound quality and playback time).

$169 is a great deal for the Air, but if the $50 saving is important then the Titanium will do fine.

    • Pay a bit extra and get the newest one. The lightness is a big factor.

  • Wow weird I was just looking at these after a 10km run today.

I like the idea of being able to hear my surroundings. Tempted to grab a set. Wonder what amazons change of mind policy is like.

damn son save some distance for us. Thats the entire distance ive run in a year

If you're intending to listen to podcasts/audio books in a noisy environment, this might not work for you. The ambient noise will still compete with what you're listening to so it's pretty much equivalent to wearing non-isolating ear buds.

    • Yup, that's by design of course. They actually provide a pair of foam earplugs in the box for those situations.

  • So I’m going out on a limb for the practicality of these; swimming… does anyone actually use these bone conduction audios in swimming sessions

    • +4

They're sweat and moisture-resistant, not waterproof. You can't use them for swimming, unfortunately.

You'll want something like the Sony SSE-BTR1 for bluetooth and swimming. They're probably the only reputable ones I've seen around. Liked my pair, tbh, but I moved to cycling instead of swimming - and the non-earwax issue is a winner for me.

Bit late to the party, but you can get a price beat on these from 99bikes if you refer to the wildfire link.

The price beat is only available to members (which is a lifetime membership costing $5).

Final cost will be $160.55 for existing members, $165.55 for new members, not sure if they offer this online, but might be worth hitting them up on it, they provide free shipping for orders above $99.

Bought a pair earlier tonight after much contemplating, and a trial run at the store.

99 Bikes will price match but also wildfire has an extra $10 with Web code and free delivery… The code works for the air or titanium..

    • whats the code?
