This is a great phone for the money, and the design means a big screen in a small package - not the usual oversized, hard to hold phablets.
Double check the specs, as I thought 4gb RAM was the standard spec.
Note no NFC or Band 28.
Android one offers monthly security patching, and there is no bloated shovel ware.

    • XDA specifically calls out 1 difference between the 2 models as being RAM variation, but otherwise same specs:

      https://www.xda-developers.com/nokia-6-1-plus-android-one/

Strangely, there is one difference between the Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia X6 – there is only one RAM/storage variant.

RAM: It is offered in 4GB and 6GB of RAM options.

Internal storage: The 4GB RAM variant will get two options of 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, while the 6GB RAM variant will come with 64GB of internal storage..

        Tl;dr
        6gb seems legit

Why is this called phablet? This is the smallest phone I've seen in years

    • I was just about to ask the same thing.

In the dark ages (or 2011 as some call it) no one could believe that a phone could have a screen larger than 5.3 inches.

So when the outlandish Samsung Galaxy Note with a 5.3" screen turned out to be real (people thought it was a joke at first) they called it a phablet because of how outlandish the 5.3" screen was. Also the resolution was a ridiculous 1280x800 - nobody could ever need a resolution so high on a phone, complete waste of money!

    • Really? Really?

Interested why the standard 6.1 has NFC but this doesn't

    • +1

6 plus is chinadroid, not for Australian market ….

Nokia X phones are generally released in China only, so perhaps like most Xiaomi phones they don't include it for that market.

Edit: beat me while I was typing too long 😂

  • How would this stack up against the Nokia 7.1 on sale at JBHifi?

    • +3

7.1 from JB has NFC and band 28

      • Thanks for the reply. Do you think that the lack of NFC and band 28 are deal breakers?

        • yes, nfc is used for electronic payment, and the coffee shop at my work uses it to track loyalty points for free coffees and lunches , if using cash or credit card they don’t have loyalty rewards, probably as it hold up the line.

also nfc can now be used for myki replacement in melbourne for public transport.

          • @garage sale: Thanks, I don't see much use for NFC right now but it may be helpful in the future.

I think the 7.1 has a better quality screen and Zeiss optics in the camera as well as the above mention B28 and NFC.

      • Would you consider the extra 3GB RAM to make up for these differences?

        • +1

you'd need to ask someone who uses their phone the same way as you. I don't doing anything on my phone that needs the extra RAM, don't game on it, just mostly browse, email and other old people things.

          • @CJ31: I think I would be in the same boat when it comes to usage.

I ask because I want to use the phone for a few years without needing to upgrade because it cannot handle future app and OS developments.

To clarify I am a lay person when it comes to technology so please stop me if I sound really dumb.

            • @Kooc: I doubt you'd see much if any benefit from more and 3GB should last for years with our usage. They are still selling 1GB Android phones that can do the basics well enough.

    • The 7.1 was the flagship of the last generation, so is a nice phone. The most comparable version at JB is $359 but only has 3Gb RAM and 32Gb of storage. As far as I can tell from specs, processor performance is similar.
I have the 6.1 plus (on Telechoice) and don't find the lack of b28 or NFC an issue.
Local warranty from JB is definitely a plus, should you need it.
