Just checked my calendar to see what decade it is.

      Exactly my thoughts.

    • Maybe buy an AM FM SW radio w/ Recorder, etc.

Under $25 shipped AliExpress & / or eBay

Not much larger, but it is a radio, so not quite
      a "slim-Jim" shape or size.

Look for model V-115 (under various labels)

    • You must have one of those fancy centenarian calendars. Long-game planner you must be.

Omg I've been waiting for this to become so cheap for about 10 years now

  • Comes with arm band sweet.

    • But neither
      LW (for airport weather) nor
SW (for BBC, etc. for Internet-free zones)

PS I have 2x Sony car radios that have SW
      (1 w/ Cassette player, 1 w/ CD-ROM player)
if any1 is looking for devices fr the era

      • Hey, at least it's lets
a kid save $$ for uni.,.

        ie, unless they're paying
off a phone or buying mob
        data for it…

      • LW would be good, but I'd be worried about where I'd have to tuck the aerial to stop tripping over it.

        • My guess: It uses AM radio's Bar Antenna for LW.

I remember literally a decade ago seeing pretty much these exact same things flood the markets and even then I was like, but, but I can just put my music on my (button) phone.

They were a tough sell then, but I'd wager they're an impossible sell now. Then again, I bought a portable cassette player + FM radio in Cashies the other day for 5 bucks so who knows.

Nothing beats the good old MP3 player with lossless capability for my needs. Phones too big and heavy and prone to interruption.

    • Found a 1 GB unit, as long ago,
      - bundled w/ a Dragon Dictact,
      or similar program

      My cost - shipped to me - ~$ 10
      fr an Aussie vendor.

    Is this Y2K compatible?

I find the little MP3 players better for jogging/running and for taking to the beach.

Tell you what, if this had AM and would allow me to use wireless headphones i'd be all over it!!! It is actually impossible to find something even with FM so i can listen to broadcast at the footy without cables. Using anything streaming via the phone is delayed by over 15 seconds. :(
