  • Meh. A 'gaming' phone with no physical controls.

Why the vote downs? He does have a point.

      • I wouldn't want it. Reduced portability etc. Can buy dirt cheap physical controls or sync existing Xbox , PS4, mini 'eBay' controller.

Meh. A 'gaming' phone with no physical controls.

The mobile gaming industry seems to be doing fine with phones without physical controls?

    • +1

Which gaming phones do have physical controls?

This phone does have features particularly suited to gaming, including a 120hz screen, long battery life, and excellent speakers.

      • Xperia play. Oldie, but it worked really well.

Better pay additional $200 and get Razor gaming phone 2 from Microsoft store instead? Stack with Amex credit to lower the price to $699

Or the Microsoft eBay 10% off deal @ 719 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/461887

    • What's the difference between the 2 phones? Seems like specs are similar

jesus christ this community sucks. I don't know why people would neg you without explaining first

Anyway there's a couple improvements/reasons to get razer phone 2 namely:

        Upgraded Snapdragon 835 to 845
Display upgraded so its way brighter and actually usable outdoors (380 nits to 580 nits)
speaker max volume was decreased in order to increase sound quality (but day to day volume is louder and better quality than razer phone 1)
Razer phone 2 is IP67 certified
Display got upgraded to gorilla glass 5 (original was GG3)
Razer phone 2 got 15w Fast wireless charging
Razer phone 2 has an RGB logo if you care about that lol
also the razer phone 2 being a newer phone naturally is on a newer android version (razer phone 2 is on 9.0 pie, razer phone 1 is on 8.1 oreo)

Maybe because if he did a simple google search he would find that the specs are not "similar"

Thanks Sock, that is very helpful. I din't find the specs listed on the above link to Microsoft eBay store that extensive and at first glance they appeared very similar. Really appreciate you taking a couple of minutes to make that clear for me.

    Lolz - I'd buy a switch instead…

different folks different strokes, can you receive mobile calls on your switch? send text messages, facebook etc easily?

Id rather one device, Id be willing to sacrifice some gaming for heaps more phone functionality, i always have my phone on me, but how often do i have the huge switch on me?

  • Just how long would gaming at 120 Hz on a 4000 mAh battery last. I bet it won't last all day unlike what the spec claims. You don't want to be stuck without power if you are wanting to make a phone call.

TechRadar - However, we found the Razer Phone’s battery lasted a full day on a single charge pretty comfortably

PhoneArena In real life, we can get through a full day with the Razer Phone even if we spend a couple of hours playing games, which is nice. On those days when you don't play games, you can expect a day and a half, and with scarce use, you could even stretch that to a full two days, but that would really be a stretch.

Engadget I was particularly impressed with the Razer Phone's 4,000 mAh battery. During moderate use peppered with several intense gaming sessions, the phone easily lasted a day and a half between charges.

You don't want to be stuck without power if you are wanting to make a phone call.

Fortunately everyone and their dog owns a power bank now - especially people who are into mobile gaming on either their current phone or their Switch.

I just hope everybody else embraces at least 90Hz screens in their next non-gaming flagship phone. Everything just feels so much smoother.

  • It's $549+ delivery, not $599!

    • It was $599 at the time posting…

  • It is a ripoff. A gaming phone that can’t do gaming. iPhone 4 has better value.

    • Don't bite, people! :)
