That is a lot for delivery.

    • You're telling me. I paid $18 for registered post to send some headphones interstate.

    • just order 2, goes over 75 bux then you get free postage… or 25 for the second one!

  • I prefer my carbonated beverages cold personally..

    • so do i, I use mine at work, bring in a water bottle full of ice, fill it with tap water, wait 20-30 seconds, fill the soda stream bottle with cold water, (filter our the ice) or just keep the soda stream bottle in the fridge full of cold water before using it. easy.

Sorry.. Was referencing the initial post of HOT HOT HOT.. a little marketing overkill..

        • +1

oh, LOL, i even read the thing again to make sure they didn't miss anything or it mention anything about just normal tap water or something like that…and they edited the title, so it didn't have the reference to hot hot hot any more when i re-read.

Should have known.. jokes on me, now i feel like an idiot hahaha.

        • whoooosh

    • So put the bottles of water in the fridge before you carbonate it.

  • +2

Thanks bought two, the extra one for a college, used code "PORCUPINE" saved a few more bux, ended up about 75 for 2 once above 75 it comes with free postage… bargain!

For anyone that cares about such things: BDS: SodaStream Still Subject to Boycott

    • doesnt link to anything about sodastream?

      • I thought it was something to do with Israel. Don't care personally, bubbles are good.

      • +1

ahh there we go, he fixed the link before i commented, but after i went to the first link that was in the post.

      • -1

        Oh

  • Anyone know if this model can be hooked up to a giant CO2 bottle?

    • +5

      buy a 6kg CO2 cylinder from kegland for $83 (+ $19—-$26 delivery), and this adapter for $15

      $98 + $16/$26 delivery = $114$124

a standard refill cylinder is 400grams and from kmart is $19 . so from the 6kg you get 15 refills = $285 worth of kmart refill cylinders.

plus you can refill the 6kg cylinder for between $30 and $60 (depending on where you get it done).

have a read of this thread for sodastream refilling ideas.

      • +3

or buy this and hook the gas bottle up directly to the Soda Stream.

      • So…yes?

        • Yes

  • -2

So what is the approx cost per litre with the soda stream bottles?

am I correct at about $1.71?

    • +2

yeah something like that, its not cheaper than no name brand soda, just convenient, specially when at work and you cant get cheap carbonated drinks.
(unless you buy one of the refill kits above)

its also handy as you can make smaller batches that don't loose there fizz like bottles from the supermarket do.

beats buying cans/bottles of coke at work though, soothes the craving, and I dont make them anywhere near as sugary as normal coke.

    • less than 50 cents a litre

  • get 2 and use code "PATCH" to get them for $72.15 delivered.

The 40L cylinder included might cause you some grief when you go to exchange it. A few months I tried to exchange one at Woolworths and Coles but their systems didn't allow it automatically - they scan the barcode of the new 60L and get charged the new price, then scan the old 60L and it provides a discount for the exchange. It didn't recognise the 40L as being valid for exchange.

I had to take in an email from Sodastream Australia saying the exchange should be accepted, and a Woolworths manager had to approve scanning the new 60L a second time to pretend that it was the cylinder being exchanged.

Hopefully they've improved the situation since then!

    • +1

maybe take it to JBHIFI, bigw or Kmart, or somewhere else that does the exchange? (they might not care as much about the size?)

    • Happened to me too, but the “starter” cylinder was meant to be the same 60L.

Deal here at reject shop except it turned political discussion lol
