Not for dryers. With washing machines they hook up the water (sometimes).

I bought a washer from good guys ebay. They hooked up the water and drainage for me.
With dryers : Just needs to be plugged in. Unless you want to set up the drain to drain automatically, you'll need to do that yourself.
I dont think you need any installation for this machine — no external vent needed, can't be hung on wall(50kg+), plug&play
Delivery people are usually nice enough to put it to your designated spot and remove all external package and cardboard from my memory though

As above : the water collected can be plumbed to drain directly into a drain. You'll have to do that yourself
@greenlantern: This one. Heat pump super efficient. 7 stars. Worked out to be about $45/yr to run if you use it once a week (there's a calculator online somewhere you can use to figure that out). And most importantly - my laundry doesn't feel like a sauna when it's on.

@greenlantern: Not sure. But my bosch washing machine was made in Thailand and is perfect. Honestly don't think it matters where it's made, with bosch. But some will always insist it be German made. Whatever
This ruled it out for me… I don't have massive space in laundry to have both washing machine and dryer sit side-by-side. The dryer has to go up, so maybe this means no heat-pump dryer for me…
Mine is on a stand on top of the washing machine.
@Rakddon: If it's so heavy at 50kg.+, can the washing machine carry it well? Is it affixed to the wall as well to prevent it from moving/falling, especially if the washing machine shakes?

It takes 1 minute to attach water and drain for a washer. You won't even need any tools.
Unless you need to drill 'open' the drain inlet on the S bend.
But for some (maybe oldies / inexperienced / not-trying-to-be-gender-biased) having someone set it up for you is a bonus. I can imagine some women, or some elderly would appreciate the washing machines being hooked up by the delivery guy.

Agree, just need 3 days and it'll be dry. I have never lived with a dryer, why pay to do something that will happen anyway…
it helps in winter when the sun isn't out much to speed things along.
also, I notice towels are a lot softer if, after air-drying them, I turn them in the dryer for 15 mins.
This is true in most cases, but towels are better dried in the machine than on the line so they don't go soft.
Mattress protectors and doonas especially are better dried in the machine to ensure they are completely dry; any moisture left on any of the down can grow mould and that ain't good. Line drying can't ensure this (except at the height of summer).

I have a similar Bosch heat pump model sitting on top of my front loader just fine.
Does anyone know if this dryer can be put on a standard laundry bench top? 50kg is pretty heavy but considering I can stand on the bench top with no issues I assume it take the weight.

I was set on getting a Samsung 9kg and was about to pull the trigger until I saw this thread.
Have a Samsung washing machine so didn't even consider any other brands until now!
Changed my mind to get the Bosch as it seems like Samsung is very new in the market still for dryers…
Also Bosch is same 9kg but slight smaller so won't stick out as much.

Ordered Saturday morning and delivered today (because cant be bothered driving to pickup by myself). Pretty fast turnaround!
After looking at this post went to local good guys store and asked to price match this deal and they did!!!. Store rep also showed me how to get cash back.. asked him to deliver and remove old unit for $74.
Then I ask him to put it on go MasterCard for 50 month interest free.
Bad news was they are out of stock for this particular model everywhere in Melbourne so it's on back order for me. Wait time he said is 7-10 business days. Thanks for the post really appreciate it.
