  BUYER BEWARE:

  Just a warning: The last three movies I've bought from Google Play Movies have not been able to playback in HD, even if they were marked "HD" in the store. I even bought a 4K copy of Bladerunner 2049 which would also only play in 480p only, regardless of whether I played it on my computer, my phone, Chromecast, Windows/Mac. Didn't matter if it was via YouTube or the Google Play Movies website/app. Always 480p, never higher.

  I complained to Google and got my money back for each purchase but now I've given up on buying from their store. Apparently it's something to do with certain territories not having the ability/rights to playback at full resolution. I reckon it's false advertising though. If they know where it should/shouldn't work in the world, then they should warn purchasers!

  I'd like to say YMMV but I've had no luck, so be warned (and return it if you're not satisfied)

  (Also edited to add that I'm on a fibre to the basement NBN 100/50 plan and regularly get 92Mbps down, so it's not my connection speed)

    I've never had this issue personally. I own around 50+ movies on Google.

      Well it is good to hear that other people have had better luck than me. I've rented movies in the past that have been fine but the last batch have all been duds so I'm not keen to keep purchasing/renting anything from their store now (although in their defense, they have provided refunds for everything)
