[NSW] $16,990 for 5kWp Solar and 10kWh Battery @ sonnenFlat (Hills District and Norwest Only) Via Natural Solar

31

I don't work for natural solar and I am kind of curious to see what the community thinks of this deal

HOW THE HILLS DISTRICT BATTERY SCHEME WORKS:
- Australians can visit www.naturalsolar.com.au to confirm their eligibility for the scheme
- Customers will need to enter their details and submit an enquiry
- Natural Solar will determine eligibility and confirm product requirements
- A full 10% deposit will be required at the time of booking confirmation
- This will reduce prices from $21,490 to just $16,990 for 5kWp solar and 10kWh battery inclusive of a $1,000 discount for residents who sign up to sonnenflat.
- sonnenflat customers who purchase through the scheme will also be eligible to access exclusive monthly energy plans.
- $1,000 sonnenflat cashback is only eligible to customers who are eligible and sign up for sonnenflat within the required timeframe. A voucher will be provided from sonnen which will need to be provided to Natural Solar.
- On top of the purchaser savings residents who are eligible will also be able to take advantage of RateSetters interest offer of 3.99% for a period of up to 60 months.
- Residents will also be able to retrofit their battery to an existing solar solution.

We installed 6.6kw Trina system, 1 phase growatt on Double storey house for $3199 in NSW.

    • How long ago was this ?
How has your experience been ?

      • In May end. Experience is good so far.
        Currently with energy Australia.
Solar rebate is 12.5 cents and getting 28% discount regardless of pay on-time or not.

    Not a bargain.

This will reduce prices from $21,490 to just $16,990 for 5kWp solar and 10kWh battery inclusive of a $1,000

That's pretty dear unless they are installing LG panels and a Tesla battery and even then 17k would be a tad too much

12 X 425w LG panel for ~ 4k (about $400 per panel ) and 10k for the Tesla battery and 3k for install

This company thinks people are dumb but even then people fall for these types of scams

    • LG has a 425w panel?
      i thought it was sunpower

      • 72 cell panels. Usually easier to go with 60 cell panels.

      • +1

        Sorry meant 16 x 325w panels.

      Sonnen is a Tesla competitor.

Everyone should minimise their consumption before they size their solar system.

      • I disagree, with a 20c/kWh FIT, your limiting factors should be how big your roof is and how much you're allowed to feed back into the grid.

        • how to get 20C/kwh fit?

          • @wangsk: Origin provides 22c/KWh FiT in Vic with their solar saver plan. Consumption is 30c/KWh with a 16% discount and 99c daily charge. It's a neat package

            • @nish101: that is a 24 month FIT only though right? via OneBigSwitch?

              • @Steptoe: I think it was 12 months FiT (from memory) and it was through Origin direct. This was in early Feb though.
They currently have the solar boost offer with 20c FiT. You could talk to customer care and politely ask if they can push that to 22c :)

              • @Steptoe: It will have paid for half the system in two years though, if you buy a cheap one.

                • @RubenM: This is good but I want to get the LG panels, this may take another 5 years to pay off the cost

          • @wangsk: Plenty retailers offer such FIT over the south Eastern states, origin, agl, even amaysim does slightly lower (18c) but their import and daily charge are lower than the big retailers, globird also does 18c but limit to the first 12kwh per day only.

        • Thanks guys
Any chance NSW will have more government rebate coming out this year?

Plenty of discussion on batteries by the nerds over at whirlpool. Seems the consensus is that even with generous grants it doesn't stack up and unless the idea of being an early adopter of technology makes you hard, then you're better off with just normal solar.

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2786341

    • My experience says we don't need if the rebate is generous as battery cost more than solar so no point getting battery to cover small difference of usage change vs rebate.

      • +2

I think you mean feed in tariff, not rebate.

        • +1

          Yes sorry feed in tariff.

Here in SA we have the new battery grant of $500/kw upto $5000 and additional $1000 for pensioners. We just installed a 6.6kw system with a Tesla battery for $10000…
$6000 after rebate for the Tesla battery installed. And $4000 for the 6.6kw system. Heck of a deal.

    • Who was this through? Pretty good deal.

  • Wow nice to see batteries are available, sure they don't make financial sense right now but probably will eventually.

I was living in the US and off-peak summer (jun-sep) electricity rate was about 5c/kwh and peak was something like 43c/kwh (1pm-7pm Mon-Fri). Would have been nice to have a battery and solar and use it during peak times.
