Wilson Pro Staff RF97 Autograph Tennis Racquet $144.49 + $9 delivery @ Tennis Direct eBay

100
PLUSWKND

Not the absolute cheapest price for this racquet, but still a good deal as RRP is $350 and most places have it for $200 on sale. TennisDirect has reduced the price on their eBay site to $169.99.

I was able to use the PLUSWKND code which brought the price down to $144.49, but then still had to pay $9 for shipping ($153.49 total).

Note that this is a heavy racquet, for intermediate to advanced players. It offers great stability but may not be the best for players with elbow or arm injuries.

  • As an aside, I thought it was strange that the code works but postage is charged, given that I thought eBay Plus was "free" shipping.

    • Free shipping for eBay plus members is only for items under eBay plus. Not all items qualify under eBay plus.

  • Just a heads up for anyone interested in this racquet, it is quite heavy and definitely not easy to use. Unless you're already accustomed to similarly heavy racquets, you'll likely burn yourself out very quickly or make your arm and shoulder decently sore by the end of your hitting session.

    • I thought it must be some huge weight, was only 350. My current is 315 which I consider light. Is 35 grams really the difference between easy to use and not easy to use?

      • Momentum is very important, it'll be a bit harder to adjust your swings mid-swing compared to a lighter racquet. Consider that the majority of the mass won't be right at your hand, so there's also the extra leverage at play. If your form is off, then you're gonna be overworking your arm to swing the racquet. Additionally, it'll be just that little bit slower at the net if you're not used to the extra weight.

Note, the average person probably won't be playing with a racquet even over 300g, so if you wanna give this racquet a go you probably won't have as rough of a time adjusting, but it's just something to consider.

      • I went from an Aero Pro Drive to the Pro staff and the difference in weight is 35gm. I notice my swing speed is slower with the Pro staff at first and since the shape is vastly different too which adds to a slower swing speed.

After some adjustments though, I gotten used to it.

I've recently gone back to a Pure Drive after snapping the strings on the Pro Staff. Will give the Wison another go once I get it restrung.
