  • So umm n00b question, how is any better than my current GA-AB350M-HD3?

    • +7

For one, it'll fit in a mITX case. Yours won't.

  • -8

this board is too limiting in expansion capability
and the price is not that great.

rather get a proper full size board.

    • +4

      depends on your needs.

i'd rather have a 7liter-ish PC that I can move around with me at the drop of a hat if I need to, and that is small enough to fit in a university dorm room.

      • -7

if you planning to move your pc alot, then just get a laptop or a NUC or even those dell SFF pcs.

most people hardly ever move their pc.
and how hard is it to move a pc, whether it is big or small?

if you putting this board in a regular tower case then it won't matter which board you get since the tower is the same size

if you putting this board in those small cases, then it limits what GPU you can buy.
and therefore it is less powerful of a gaming machine..so it ends up like those dell SFF pcs (mainly used for general pc usage/work)
and therefore might as well get those dell SFF pcs.

        • +7

i've still got over 250mm of GPU space, that fits a 2070/1080ti mini, way more performance than I can get in a laptop and much better than the skull canyon NUC.

nobody buys ITX boards to put in full towers, that's just stupid.

          • -8

@maybe a bot: and in what situation are you in that you need to move this around alot?
as I said, most people would hardly ever move their pc, since their desk is not gonna move, and it also has their monitor on it.

and how much harder to move this vs moving a normal size pc tower?
do you have weak muscles or some sort of health condition?

while a laptop might not be as powerful
it is much more portable and more useful in the university dorm situation you said.
or you can even get those Dell SFF PCs which should be good enough for most pc general usage.

These small ITX cases can cost quite a bit so some people might want to cheap out and reuse their existing pc cases
            depends what their budget is..

My SFF computer fits an i7 and a 1080 in a sub 5 litre case. Yes, it may limit your options due to power, thermal and space constraints depending on your case but it doesn't mean it'll make a computer any less powerful.

          • -7

            @Tatari: actually it would
cos the board limits what expansion and cards you can install it.

like there is only 2 slots for the ram,
you can't add more ram to the existing one you got.
you need to replace it all

there's less sata ports for more hdd

only one pci-e so you can't add anything else.

if you putting it in an ITX case, then you have to use a low profile gpu
which means there is less choice in what gpu

If you are using this in a bigger case then of course you can use the fuller size gpu
but it still limiting in the other expansion options..

so of course it will be less powerful compared to what I can build
            with a fuller size board

@pinkybrain: There's a whole sub culture around building micro PCs these days. I personally find it very cool. However if its not your cup of tea nobody says you have to get into it. But for those of us who do like the idea of micro custom PCs, we don't have to justify our preference to you.

@Gamer Dad Reviews: I never said you or anyone had to justify anything to me..
go read my first original comment again..

I just said it was too limiting for me…

but someone chose to reply to me and justifying it in their reply
                and hence this comment chain.

If this is your cup of tea then enjoy it…
I couldn't care less and don't give a shit about the micro PC subculture.

if you putting this board in those small cases, then it limits what GPU you can buy. and therefore it is less powerful of a gaming machine.

My MiniITX PC is an AIO watercooled hexacore i7-5930k @ 4.5Ghz with a GTX1080Ti.

          You were saying?

    • +1

Yes and No. You can actually get one 2080 or 2080Ti running on it with Ryzen 2700X or even 3950X (if Asus release the new BIOS for new Ryzen 3 series, most likely that would be that case), then you can scale up your spec on this 15CM*15CM tiny mobo.
Again, like I mentioned it's designed for mini-itx builder so it's all about your preference :)

      • Asus already released Ryzen 3xxx bios update for this board.

Not sure if you require an older CPU on board to update BIOS though

        • Asus Bio Flashback should let you update with no CPU at all

  • +2

Thanks. I am planning on building a mITX PC for the upcoming 3400G, with some RGB lighting.

Awesome meaning the same as a board costing 50 bucks less because it wasn't ROG branded.

    • Don't think that's really fair, ROG boards from quite reasonable midrange to $1000 memeboards.

  • Have Asus released the bios for zen2 support yet?
Or anyone know if these will boot with the upcoming ryzen chips without a bios flash?

  • I just had to be two weeks late, and now all the stock in Australia is gone. -_-
