what do they sell? what's a asos?

    • +3

"ASOS.com (formerly as Seen on Screen) sells the latest women's and men's fashion, celebrity clothing and designer clothes. Also the hottest accessories, jewellery, shoes, cosmetics, skin and hair care products."

    • -4

they sell branded stuff - and often free shipping to AUS

      • +9

        "Often"?

        More like always

    • +10

you guys didn't need to neg a question…ozbargain bullies =.=

    • +4

accept that some of there branded stuff are expensive but asos branded is cheap and well made.

I bought two jackets a month ago from their clearance outlet.

      1) They fitted perfectly according to their size guide.

      2) They were awesome.

      3) Total of 2 jackets costed me 55 pounds = $84 with free shipping.

One of them was 50% wool as well. Those two jackets would have costed me ~$200-250 here.

      • What the womens asos branded stuff (collection not white or black) is terrible quality. But I'd say slightly better than cotton on.
Asos isn't as cheap anymore and they dont have as many outlet brands. They're really pushing their own asos brands.
Last year they had an awesome sale with 12 quid ladies heels and now they don't go that cheap anymore

I often stick to the sale items, and they generally reduce their brand name and designer stuff far more than they do in Aus. It often helps that their seasons are different to ours, so that their end of winter sale etc means the start of ours, and all their coats etc are heavily reduced.

      • hear hear . bought a pair of full leather derby shoes a while ago. $30~ ????? That's the price of a pair of dunlop volleys here. honestly. and the retail industry wonders why they're losing customers to online.

      • +3

man anyone else hear this in Snape voice?

        • +2

Buying my cloaks on sale doesn't make me any less of a wizard, Potter.

        • +1

          Polyjuice potion?

  • they have have some excellent shoes (though sometimes sizes are limited)

  • Stick to Sale items then you'll be right…

  • crap, i bought a $40 top yesterday.. :(

I almost misread the title as Asus 10% off lol.

  • Just a tip, don't let the site do the currency conversion as it rips you off big time. Cheaper to let your credit card do the conversion. Also, apply for 28 Degree credit card for no international transaction fees

    Hmmmm….

The site is still 'down', and "Offer ends midnight (GMT) Friday 10th June2011. Offer excludes delivery charges and marked down items."

I wonder how much time we will get to order and use the discount code?

    7.45am now in London UK.

  • well if it excluides marked down items, then this is absolutely pointless. Away from their clearance items, they are fairly expensive tbh.

taking my positive vote back, thanks.

  • If people are actually after 'high-end' branded items (and have no problems with paying the exorbitant prices), then I prefer yoox promotions or luisaviaroma seasonal sales. Yes, almost everything is expensive, but compare it to the ultra-overcharged, tax added prices they charge in our oz boutiques (I'm talking ASSIN, Harolds, Incu) they're really 'cheap' (the cheaper of the very expensive, if such logic is possible).

But aside from the occasional splurge the misses does here and there, she does regularly buy the cheap asos branded stuff (gets a box of items everytime lol). And as the one that (I hope) these clothes were intended to impress, I do say they look and 'feel….' great. :) As well as the facebook page, there's a thread on vogue where she gets coupon codes off (which annoys me a bit as they release codes pretty regularly, and it gives her an excuse to buy more crap to fill the 95% of the walk-in that is hers)

  • Thought this was Assos :(

  • +2

Aussies got ripped off. If you go to http://us.asos.com/ instead, i.e. their US-centric site, you get

To make up for it, when we're back up, enter code ASOSUPDATE20 at checkout to get 20% off your next order.

    What?!!

Edit: Moreover, it says "Up to minute info on what we're up to can be found in our Twitter Live Service Update window to the right" however the last Twitter update was 58 days ago! I suspect this is just a generic "500 Internal Error" page. Let's see whether you can claim the coupon code first.

    • At the base of that US-centric page offering the 20% off ASOSUPDATE20 code - "Terms and Conditions: Enter code ASOSUPDATE11 at checkout to claim. Offer ends midnight (GMT) Friday 10th June2011. Offer excludes delivery charges and marked down items. Maximum spend of £500 per order. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer."

    • Just tried it, doesn't work. The 10% one works.

    • Is there an American and a British ASOS twitter or something? The ASOS twitter page I'm on has lots of updates and traffic

  • I thought it was Assos.

Who came up with the name ASOS? And how do you pronounce it? Or are you not allowed to read it out as a word, but only to spell it out A-S-O-S.

    • +1

I always try to avoid saying it heh. In my head I say 'Ay-Soss'

      • +3

I agree with this pronunciation, however I have no idea whether it's correct.

LOL, I always thought it stood for "As Seen On Stars" as they would always rip off celebrity designer clothing with cheap copies. Amazingly enough I've never bought anything from that site - the designer stuff seems too exxy, and the "home brand" items seems to be like Miss Shop/Supre. Preparing for the negs LOL.

  • -7

Yeah look at all the negs I got from all the idiots that think they are getting a bargain, prepare to be bombarded for speaking the truth my friend..

    • +6

I think they negged you because it's somewhat self-explanatory that the ASOS in-house brand is far cheaper than the branded stuff you can get at any other retailer.

  • Ah, ASOS, lol:)
