Amazing deal on this Kogan monitor. I would never buy a Kogan monitor usually, but this panel was manufactured by Samsung, so you know it's going to be good. This price is amazing for a curved screen with 144hz.

Why are they curving 24" monitors (profanity), if only this wasn't curved :(

    • Awaits the comment… :)

      But I do agree…

    • It's intended for immersion, and it does the job, but obviously restricts the viewing angle.

Mm, seems unnecessary on a 24" monitor.

  • do they blur much at 144hz? considering this or the 144hz 1440p 27"

    • 144hz is the refresh rate while the pixel response time is 4ms (possibly less if you turn up the LCD Overdrive).

4ms is sort of average for a gaming monitor, but it is significantly worse than 1ms and you can notice the difference if you look hard enough

Just because it’s a Samsung panel, doesn’t mean it’s good.
In some cases (not necessarily this one), they’ll be using the panels that Samsung made but rejected because they weren’t up to standard to use in their own monitors or TVs.
    What’s known as a “B” panel.

I think it's that a sample of a few panels from a whole batch of thousands of panels were found not up to scratch and so the manufacturer rejects the whole batch and sells it to third party companies. But the majority of the panels can be still fine and still up to what you get from A grade quality. It can be that the monitor you get has a perfectly fine panel. They are still tested and weeded out any bad panels at the factory when the monitors are made.

Heck i have a Kogan 43" 4K TV with an LG panel here and the screen panel quality looks the same as what you get from the more expensive LG TV itself. It has a perfect panel.

      • Absolutely
But I think the takeaway point is that it’s “up to A panel quality”.
There’s no guarantees with this the way there would be with a Samsung sold product.

That's fine if you don't mind paying Samsung sold inflated prices.

But i hadn't heard about any complaints about the LG panel Kogan TV's and before that they came with Samsung panels. So i would assume that also this Samsung made panel Kogan monitor should be great for the price you pay. It's a real bargain.

      • I think there's individual parts where they will do initial testing for all of them (ie. put certain voltages through them and see if they work, which is not an exact science), but you're probably right about batch testing of panels.

  • I grabbed a Kogan 144hz 5ms freesync monitor for like 80 bucks a year or so ago from Gumtree.. pretty much as good of a gaming experience as any other 144hz monitor really.

Not sure if having a 24" monitor curved is necessarily a good thing though

  • How is viewsonic compared to kogan?
