It’s always fun looking at various reviews and sussing out the reviewers’ Intersts and prejudices. Best to read them and work out different ranking according to you, the buyer. In this case the MS headphones match a surface laptop, extra controls and voice assistants vs better sound, better noise cancelling, and longer battery life in the Bose. Hmmmm.

They did say the Bose was the overall winner

The number 1 criteria for me is how comfortable they are after wearing for half an hour. The other stuff is a bonus.

And that can be fairly subjective. I can wear my Bose all day long, forget they’re there. But I’m sure there’s people who disagree.

        • I got my Sony xm3s on Friday and find them extremely uncomfortable.

          • @ellave: Really? I find mine way more comfortable than my bose QC35, and the sound/noise cancelling is far better too.

      Lame.

He's just trying hard to be a party popper

        • Yeah, he's been trying for awhile now.

  • Anyone tried these?

    • Bit late but yeah I bought them a month or so ago, very happy with them. Sound balance can be adjusted through the Windows 10 app, noise cancelling is fantastic especially with the dial to turn it up and down (and when you dial it all the way off it will actually enhance the outside sound so you don't have to take your headphones off to hear people and talk to them), touch controls to pause/skip/rewind songs is great, as is the feature where as soon as you take the headphones off your head it will auto-pause your music, then start again when you put them back on. They're very comfortable too since they're over the ear rather than on top of the ear.

Just what I was looking for… accessories with inbuilt Cortana.

    • +1

Don’t forget a variety of apps too!

      • +1

I would say that Cortana has been a success…

Microsoft Explorer (aka Edge) isn't the first thing I remove from start bar anymore. 😂

  • Nice :) Will add these to my collection, thanks!

    Tell them they're dreaming!!

These will be sub $100 in the bargain bin soon.

There was a good review of these on YouTube a while back. https://youtu.be/nuNYtj8keaE
I personally think the dials and USB C are a step up from the Bose.

Sony Wh 1000XM3s another option to consider.

  • It looks tacky.

  • Might try below $200 which is only a matter of time

I wouldn't but these from Murica, they would have a really annoying accent.

  • Hardly Normal. That made me laugh!!! Again…

  • the price is too high.. you can but Bose and Sony for mid/high 300s, why would someone pay more for a product that is same or worst…

    • Microsoft have been pretty much gold with the surface brand, I have no doubt these are quality.

Still, they are competing in what is quite arguably the most competitive price range for headphones… Not sure I'd take a gamble against Sony or Bose with them yet

  • Noise canceling is not great. LTT did a 4 way roundup with QC35 II, XM3, Surface and Beats. It's dial is really good though.

At least it didn't come last, which would be Beats.

    • The noise cancelling is pretty fantastic, especially with the dial to turn it up and down.

  • On the SURFACE, SOUNDS like a good a product…
