I applied mine on my Surface, and due to the backing they use, its actually really easy. The adhesive is pressure activated so you have a little play time.
SlickWraps, DBrand, etc it's all just standard issue 3M that they buy on a roll and computer cut. If you've ever used any 3M vinyl before that'd be a good reference for you. the application process is the same. If you've applied those customer Vinyl stickers you get at shops or markets, its very similar again but without application tape and a bit thicker.
From my experience with Dbrand..
Surface is one of the easiest ones to apply - it's not fiddly and the shapes are square.
Alienware laptops are fiddly with all the small little pieces (at least on my 15R4 and 13R3 for the back vent section) but everything was straight so it fit well.
Macbook 12" was surprisingly straightforward.
Razer Blade 15" looked like it should be easy but the 'tiny gap' around the outside which is deliberate was a bit tricky to figure out exactly but my wife was the one who did it expertly.
iPads/iPhones/etc with curved edges/corners however are a bit harder and require a hairdryer to get it stretched/curved and even then it doesn't look as good as you'd expect :(
