Buy One Get One 15% off (Min Spend $75, Max Discount $300) @ eBay

950
POPPER

It's back, for a long time it was the only eBay discount that was still truly sitewide. And I think it still is!

15% off your second highest price item. Best to buy in pairs.

Terms and Conditions

  • The offer entitles you to 15% off the purchase price (excluding postage costs) of one item when you buy a second item listed on www.ebay.com.au.
  • The 15% discount will be applied to the lower priced item.
  • The minimum spend requirement for the offer is $75 in one transaction during the Offer Period.
  • The redemption code is valid for three (3) transactions per person only. Both items must be purchased in the same transaction in order for one of the items to qualify for the discount.
  • The total discount is capped at $300 per transaction.
  • More than two items can be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction). In these circumstances, the discount will be applied to the second highest value item in the transaction.
  • Monetary amounts specified in these terms and conditions are in Australian dollars (AUD).

  • Just saw this pop up when browsing eBay. That was fast!

That’s the ozbargain code of conduct, post when you see it first. Now I don’t feel like buying anything unless there’s no code on ebay lol

    Grrrr no car parts!!

Holy hell look at those exclusions and especially the growing list of excluded stores.

eBay has spent the last few years fine tuning their discounts and now min spend has gone up, %’s seem to have gone down, exclusions are more than ever and the stores not willing to participate in any deals is worrying.

I’m pretty sure it’s the end of an era for eBay Australia. I had no idea this is what would happen after Amazon came here. Was not expecting it at all.

    • The aggressive coupons only really began in the years before Amazon launched. eBay is now just getting back to business as usual, now Amazon has launched and not really made a dent in eBay’s local market share.

LOL, it's more due to ebay ruining their business. They started as an auction site, then drove away all the people that made it popular trying to turn it into a retail site. i.e. The same sellers they drove away - were many of the same ones BUYING too. Sellers of cheap rare items like old collectable magazines, small toys, etc. looked at the work and excessive fees, and decided to discard them in the bin instead.

ebay could have done both. But no, they destroyed their share price, and now they have to offer discounts to drag people back - but even that isn't working, because buyers are realising that sellers jack up their prices during sales. Buyer pays the same or more, ebay loses more profits… serves them right for stuffing around with a formula that wasn't borked in the first place.

      • they destroyed their share price

Ebay's share price is at near all time highs.

        • Today it might be. I'm talking about when they were losing money hand over fist - and while the share price might be ok today, imagine what it should have been - if they hadn't done their best to drive users away with a long list of ridiculous changes.

  • There are still plenty of bargains to be had in my opinion.

I've just got into caravanning and a couple of things im after are same price on Ebay as the bricks and mortar store. These discounts are a genuine reduction on the genuine price so it's a good thing for me.

    Oh that'd be right.

Spend $1500 last night with combinations of those smaller codes.

This is the problem of having too many sales and codes…

  • +7

So at best this is 7.5% off if you're buying two of the same item.

    • +9

Perhaps this code should be POOPER

    • +1

If both items are equal value. If the lowest priced item is $1, you've only saved 15 cents, ouch.

Coupons like these are misleading, and unfair. Yes, a coupon is a coupon, but only a select few can take full advantage.

What if I buy two item and refund the more expensive one, would I still keep the discount for the cheaper one?

    • +1

I don't know about refunds that you initiate. However, when the seller cancelled my higher priced item previously, I still kept the discount, so I got the full 15% off!

    How is this sitewide?!

    • This code works on items that the other codes don’t work on. Past ones like this have worked on most items on my cart

  • So up to 7.5% off with minimum spend of $150, if you buy 2 same price items.
Just give us the generic 5% off again please.

  • -1

So if you buy two items it's 7.5% off the total.

Apart from the lower $75 min purchase price, it's better to use the 10% off deal here in case you'll spend $120 or more:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/467776

    • This 10% one only applies to "eligible" items, ie sellers with high standing.

  • +1

I got "This code can't be applied to your order."

    • Did you change your eBay location to take advantage of another sale?

Either that or the item is on the exclusions list.

      • yes i think the location is an issue

  • The deal saved me 9 dollars.

  • So does this mean you have to:

    • Buy 2x of exactly the same item?
    • Buy any 2x items?
    • Buy from the same seller?

They sure go out of their way to make things confusing.

    • Simple way to think about it is that it's 15% off the second highest item in each transaction. First one doesn't matter. Applies to any item not on the excluded list, don't need to buy 2 same but you can.

  • 2 keys : 1) product must be eligible . I normally do dummy runs in my cart .

    2) best to choose 2 products close in value to each other eg $200 and $200 saves the max $30 (7.5% overall). $200 and $100 saves $15 ( 5% overall)

  • Thanks, just saved $6 on 2 bottles of Rum (why is the Rum always gone?) from 1st Choice.

  • Saved me $8.90! thanks

  • Hmmm, looks like the code is not available anymore. I tried using it just now and I got the message saying "unfortunately this code is no longer available…." at the checkout page when I have 2 items that costs $300++ in my cart.

    • Thanks you saved me i was about to pull the trigger

      • Haha all good mate, yeah I was about to "commit to buy" on something as well but then I tried adding some items to my cart first, just in case. Then when I applied the promotional code "POPPER" I got an error message, whelp.

  • I contacted eBay they said the promo is still active they will fix it soon.

  • Wondering if there's a new 15% replacement code or the party is over for decent EBay discounts? Seems like EBay ran out of promotion budget…

  • Still in my Ebay Summary. Says expiry 30 Sept 2019…

    • Yes I noticed that it just came back to life again this week.

  • just used. saved $11.20.

    thanks OP
