Give me Brazil or Colombia for that price and I'm sold!

    • You. are. dreaming.

      • Why? Buenos Aires is just 30 bucks more on the other deal…

        • You can't fly direct to Brazil or Colombia from NZ or AU. That other deal is with Airnz who fly direct to Buenos. So you're adding another airline to the fare.

          • @RhysNZ: You can't fly direct but you can fly on a single airline (Latam) if flying from Sydney or Melbourne. I don't think they ever discounted it this much, but in the past it's been around 900-ish to either Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro I believe.

By the way Latam have just opened up sales of their new Sydney to Santiago nonstop route (previously only available with Auckland stopover).

            • @v8o: Yeah, there's another thread on here, Sydney to Sao Paulo (2 stops via NZ and ARG) from around $950 - that's as low as it'll get (for now), given all the specials are on offer at once

Latam one is the one I'm keen to find a deal for.

              • @OneTonneRodeo: Interesting! I fly Brisbane to Sao Paulo a couple times a year for work and actually prefer Air NZ over Latam/Qantas.

The main reason being that the domestic stopover in Sydney on the way back is always a mess (recheck bags, hurry through immigration to make the flight to BNE, take the bus to a different terminal, then realise Qantas cancelled your flight and put you on a much later one because they schedule more flights to BNE than there is demand for). I'd much rather stop in Auckland where everything is in one terminal and I don't need to do immigration or worry about bags. My only gripe flying air NZ is I find the meals too skinny for such a long flight.

However I agree that if flying from Sydney I'd probably prefer Latam (not Qantas, who last I checked still used ancient 747s on this route). Santiago is a slightly better airport to stop at compared to Buenos Aires, and Latam is a much nicer airline than Aerolineas for the Brazil leg.

  • FYI there is also a $100US Australian visa to Santiago
