Deal Extreme is running a competition to win one of their (dubious quality) laptops.

According to the promo every entrant also gets a $5 gift card, something which can go quite a long way on DX!

Not sure yet how annoying the sweepstakes application you have to give permissions to is, but as usual using a disposable email address in the contact form (as a commenter pointed out the gift card might be linked to this address)and disabling the application once you receive your gift card is probably a good idea

It seems like the gift card isn't instant. Possibly they are distributed on the 19th when the competition ends? DX are normally pretty reliable, for a hong kong electronics re seller anyway, so I think the risk of not getting the gift card is low

      kindof crazy that a company with the financial backing of so many big companies would still do dodgy internet marketing tricks like that.

      I assume dx has no business presence in Australia (plus they seem to love flaunting copyright laws themselves) but it is still clear COTD are deliberately trying to mislead consumers.

    I would use your email address which you have used with DX.

    If they link the gift card to the email address then you will have to make a new account using the disposable address.

      I have purchased this before.

      It will work perfectly once you fine tune it properly, but the build quality is quite low.

      Can't complain for $4.

        I've bought 3 (I think, or is it 4) all going good except the one I gave as a gift got smashed (no, not by putting vodka in its drinking glass, it fell off the bench).

        Well worth the price even without the voucher….but you have to be prepared to 'tune' them.

        Imagine my surprise when I found two police officers knocking on my door asking about a 'firearm' I had…even when the paperwork CLEARLY available on the system showed it was seized…don't even THINK about bringing anything in that resembles a gun that can shoot ANY projectile, even if it's a spring driven BB gun…

        The only way you can get one in legally is if your state allows spring driven BB guns with a B709A form…

        If it wasn't for the fact that I knew police procedure on how to deal with firearms (bit of SWAT training tutorials…thank god) I would of died from lead poisoning…
