Phantom OzBargain Negger

I think I've picked up a little neg pet on OzBargain. All of my comments, even the innocuous ones, get a single neg pretty quickly. Obviously I peed someone off about something I said, and they've decided to follow me.

"Good neg boy, good neg boy!"

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Awww, you've got a neg pet. That's cute. Don't feed it after midnight!

  • +6

You know you don't care about speaking your mind when someone comes along and negs the most recent 5 comments, no matter how helpful those comments were.

It's hilarious to see, and even better when you post more than 5 comments per day ;)

Well, the ironic neg votes were just to be expected lol

    • +4

      Phantom OzBargain Negger strikes again!

    • -5

My comments are currently being negged for saying that I don't want drunk drivers on our roads. Meanwhile, every comment the drunk driver makes gets upvoted.

      • +10

It depends on your definition of drunk driver.

        I'm a better driver when I have a drink. I peak at 0.049 BAC.

At 0.05, I crash into LPG tanks and upvote deals that are not the lowest prices.

        • this person blew mid range

          • -5

            @loulou1: I'm no judge.

My usual cabinet maker is a drunk. When he shows up, I keep him aware from naked flames.

He went to rehab and I had to get someone else to do bits and pieces in the office. Cost more and the job was far sloppier.

He is out of rehab and his work is… average.

I'm not saying go out there, get drunk and operate an automobile. Just saying that we should all be responsible and not rely on regulatory definitions when it comes to personally responsibility.

(When it comes to imposing restrictions and/or judgement on others, yes, definitions are paramount. I'm also not a big fan of restrictions but that's a whole other thing.)

            • +4

@[Deactivated]: i mean, the fact that the person then had a collision with a stationary object shows that drinking was not a good idea for them before operating a motor vehicle.
I won't pretend for a moment that I am without flaws, but drink driving is one thing i feel very strongly about. A lot of the laws/restrictions we have in place are about protecting ourselves and protecting others.

              • -3

                @loulou1:

A lot of the laws/restrictions we have in place are about protecting ourselves and protecting others.

Too bad it is diluted by many other laws and enforcement of said laws that are there as a cash grab.

I am not familiar with the case you're referring to so I'll make no inference to that.

I'm Victorian and I can safely say we are a greater nanny state than the most Canadian state there is.

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: Provinces in Canada and yes, Victoria is probably the worst place I have lived in the world in regards to nanny laws. Yet a member of the youth community can kick your door in, bash your face with a pole and leave you with life long trauma with very little real consequence. Drive 20 km/hr over the speed limit though …

                  • -2

@Third_Gear: I can verify that you've lived/are living in Victoria.

                  • @Third_Gear: Hasn’t the nanny just brought in a law to euthanise the granny?

            • @[Deactivated]: There is a correlation between mental illness and creativity. Point in case, my mother. She was a talented and prolific artist. Her tortured soul, projected on the canvas, became something beautiful. I remember attending one of her exhibitions and being completely in awe at her talent and being brought to tears by some of her work.
Then she went on clozaril and she couldn't paint to save her life anymore.

You are probably going to gain a few more

    • +14

      Then what?
We send the OzBargain Bikies over to demand eneloops for payment?

    • +20

Sometimes a neg is better than wasting time on any kind of response. :)

    • +1

I am neg voteing you, what are you doing to do about it? show us all what listing who down votes something will solve?

      • -1

It won't "solve" anything, if we list positive votes, then we should list negative votes too. Why shouldn't we list positive votes?

    • +3

      5 negs, 4 replies

      GASP

    • I have the balls. I am your 11th neg vote.

    • -1

Hahahaha not too surprised this got negged, but yeah I wouldn't mind. If I'm negging someone, I don't mind that they know.

  • Can you please respond / comment here.

    • +2

      Yes.

    • +3

a person that annoys me n_gger

  • +40

    Negger

Don't think you can call them that…

    • What a dark humour you got there.

    • +4
      • I would say Naggers. Some people always nag nag nag, its so annoying!

      • +1

lol beat me to it. Tempted to neg you.. but I'll plus you instead :P

  • +1

why do you care? it doesn't imapact your account in any way

      • +4

It seems you have numerous phantom neggers or neg pets as you call it.

This must be doing your head in.

    • +2

      it hurts his feelings man.

  • +5

Oh yeah it happens all the time. The important part is to embrace the negative comments because it means that someone must really care about you and you'll be one of their last thoughts at bed time :)

Also if you get enough you'll end up with a badge :P

    • +1

      OzBargain Section 31.

    • +1

"Also if you get enough you'll end up with a badge :P"

      Oh really?

      • I could be wrong about that but I think 30+

        • +4

Jv should be able to confirm.

All the rest of the controversial posters seem to have been banned.

        • +1

          Don't think so?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/badge

Popular Comment I'm pretty sure is only 30+ despite it saying Posting comment that received 30 or more votes

          • +1

@sss333: Negs on a deal is what I was thinking of then.

  • +11

Just remember folks - you're nobody until somebody hates you on the internet!

    • I think someone wrote a song about that.

  • +6

Negs aren't necessarily a reflection of the quality of your comment.

They're a representation of how many registered users think the way you do.

Of course there's the patently stupid comments like homeopathic voodoo and tinfoil hat army but I suggest not negging those - it's just a ploy by scotty et al to sell Enecoins for premium membership with unlimited negs.

    • +1

it's just a ploy by scotty et al to sell Enecoins for premium membership with unlimited negs.

I've just reported you to the mods blabbermouth!

      • +3

I can't be a blabbermouth to information not privy to myself.

I fancy myself a journalist of high regard, spreading the word like the squire arms the knight. I tipity tap at my keyboard just as the virtual pen inks the paper that has sealed the fates of kings and warlords alike.

Information is power and power to the people!

        • +2

          That you Assange? :P

          • +1

@Wystri Warrick: I was hoping less creepy babyface and more mysterious, brooding and devilishly handsome.

Maybe Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn with a bit more chest and nose hair.

        • A modern journalist just copies a story from somewhere else without crediting the source.

          • +1

@Gandalf the Thrifty: Meanwhile, traditional journalism is rewarded with intel gathering and panty-raids. As ordered by Spud.
Just don't ask him to drive.

      • Am I there yet?

  • +4

please limit urself to 5 post a day, I can send more than 5 negatives a day!

  • +2

Where can I sign up for this?

  • JV has probably

    • As if I have time…….

Just because I can give unlimited negs, doesn't mean I have to use them,

  • -3

    You and me got stalkers.

    • -1

yours dont seem to be doing anything.

  • +1

Yep. There are some pathetic losers on this site for sure.

  • +13

Used my 5 negs just on comments in this thread, see you all tomorrow.

  • +1
  • I definitely misread the title.

  • +1

This reminds me years ago of one of the top Ozbargain contributors threatened to quit because he was getting negs.

I was shocked someone of that 'stature' lost sleep over a neg.

    • At the risk of being labelled an owl…

      Who?

    • +3

if memory serves me right …
it was theearth who went away for a bit because of neg votes on his/her deal posts
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/user/62400

  • +4

    I wish a had a neg ghoster.

It would mean someone cares enough about me to pay attention to what i post

    😒

    • +2

      πŸ€—

    • +2

      Someone cares!
      😊

  • I got a lot of negs on recent telstra post despite reporting something that came out from a staff's mouth in Glen but I still got negged hard and fast.

So dont lose sleep over it. Its just means someone cares about your post even if it rubs them the wrong way lol

    • +1

So dont lose sleep over it.

Yet, based on your comment, it is still bothering you.

  • +3

In an effort to gain sympathy for negative votes, the OP has been showered with 39 neg votes so far in this thread. I love you, ozbargain.

    • -6

No sympathy required. I'm a big boy now. Kids from the early 70s don't need participation medals.

      • +1

        πŸ†They need Big Gold Trophies!πŸ†πŸ€£

        • +3

If I am the best at something, F yeah. Gold or nothing.

  • OP, maybe its because you were being a dick to people ?

  • +6

Op need to add to the poll "It was me who negged you".

  • That's why I post six posts at a time, to seasonally adjust.

  • I think I've picked up a little neg pet on OzBargain.

Just one? Pfft , come back when you have 5+ like some of us :b

Edit: Seriously though , I don't mind neggers : you ignore them and they'll (eventually) move on to someone else. 'Admirers' are so much worse. It usually starts with a " I love your avatar! It's so cute" but quickly turns to "why are you ignoring me? WHY?!" and full-blown tanties along the lines of " I demand that you meet me in real life to prove that you're a real person!"πŸ™„

    • +3

I had someone who was neg following me and even commented on my comments to say I'm racist based on my avatar.

I should look for those comments. This person sounded genuinely offended that my avatar depicts a white male of presumably significant coin.

      • +3

That's nonsense. He's probably got it in for you so bad that he conjured up that thought just for the sake of attacking you…
Your avatar is more like an 18th century English aristocrat down at the races, and by the looks of him he has just won quite the wager as his thunderous steed gallops past the finish line!

    • +1

It usually starts with a " I love your avatar! It's so cute" but quickly turns to "why are you ignoring me? WHY?!" and full-blown tanties along the lines of " I demand that you meet me in real life to prove that you're a real person!"πŸ™„

Scabs been harassing you too huh? :(

      • +2

        Not Scabs. He's gone :(

        • +1

It's hard to make Scab jokes when he's in the sin bin. I miss Scab :(.

Edit: honestly can't imagine you having people angry at you you're one of the nicest people on here.
