Come on Techfast, build me one with a 2080

  • I'm still deciding what to get, interested in

$185 more than the 3600 for 2 more cores and a better cooler, the extra cash thrown towards the GPU would probably be better spent but my current computer (3570k) lasted me 6.5 years with only small upgrades so i'm thinking of splurging a bit this time.

    • I'm in a similar situation.. I'm still running my i5-2400 CPU and yearly upgrades of RAM, then SSD, then upgrading GPU every second year to the 6GB GTX 1060 I have now.. 1080p gaming is great imo, but I do a lot of video encoding so something faster and better than NVenc would be very good.

  • If I'm running Ryzen 2700 with AM4 slot motherboard can I upgrade or do I need a new mobo?

    • -2

      It will work

      • Update BIOS before selling your old CPU though.

You may wanna confirm which board he has before you tell him it'll work….

        • I have an x370 mobo if my bios gets updated I'm good. It got updated for Ryzen 2 but not currently supported as yet.

          • @Cheapsize: Hardware Unboxed on YT has this running on an old ASRock B350M (benchmarks on 3700X and 3900X)

It'll also be good to see what board you have and the quality of the VRM mosfets

  • Thanks OP, purchased one as soon as you posted.

Keep an eye out for computer alliance's stock, they are adding stock every couple of days and with that same 'paper' code, it brings it down to $469, $10 cheaper than this! Got one couple hours ago and goddamn I'm excited.

  • Wait for Ryzen 4000?

  • Got one of these, picked up the next day from PC BYTE (another shop handles it). Still not with me. Damn fastway.

  • Ok i have fixed all my Ryzen R7 3700X issues. and now my 32GB's (4x8) of Gskill 3000Mhz trident RGB Ram works fine.

I now idle at 0.6v and it boosts to 1.45 when required for single core 1.3v for multi core
I followed the instructions from the below video.. it was awesome

Watch the video in full below its so good.
