Any HDD deals at the moment? Looking at WD black or blue

    • WD Black is gonna cost you an arm. WD Blue is not thaaat good. EVO, we all know its performance.

      • I think he means HDD.

        • Yep. I was blind lol hahahah
But even so, install the OS in a SSD and the data into a WD Red. The best investment and performance you could have.

I paid 45 cents more three weeks ago :(

      Hand in your OzB card!

  • Crucial P1 1TB or this?

    • Hasn't the P1 sold out already?

      • I believe both the Silicon Power and Crucial P1s have a limited write cache. Thereafter, they slow down waiting for buffers to flush.

Depending on your use case, that may or may not be an issue. Another minor consideration is endurance, although this is offset when considering a larger drive such as the one linked.

If you can afford the cost per Gb, the 970 EVO Plus is quite the little beast.

        • Anandtech tested.

In writing over 100GB in one go the Silicon Power averaged 732mb/s when empty, and 576mb/s when full. Compared to 970 Evo Plus of 883 and 746mb/s and Intel 660p 711 and 158mb/s.

@FabMan: You're right. The Silicon Power ssd is in a different class to the P1, very respectable.

  • Thanks!

thanks. will go well with the new 3700x build

    • Snapped one up for the same reason :)

  • damn these tempting deals! :( - Do I buy this and just have it sit in the box until I have everything else I need :P

    • Buy it and a M.2 case so you can use it without having to wait :P

  • Please remove the cashback part from your title, I bought the SSD only to realise the cashback period is over.

      It's extended till 31 July.

      • My bad just realised, however another issue has come up, the MPN for the ssd BudgetPC is selling has an MPN labelled "MZ-V7E500BW", this MPN isnt covered by samsungs cashback promotion.

Is this false advertising on their part or something, I mean its not the end of the world if I miss out on 22 bucks, but the seller has advertised this SSD as being capable of being claimed for cashback when it isnt.

        • I'd say that the seller has made a mistake with the code. MZ-V7E500BW is the old, non-plus version but they're clearly selling this as 970 Evo Plus.

Maybe someone from the seller will see this and confirm

          • @Chavatar: Samsung has the MPN "MZ-V7E500BW" listed as a 970 pro plus SSD, so i'm not quite sure that's true.

            • @chepsk8: MZ-V7S500BW = 970 Evo Plus 500GB
              MZ-V7P512BW = 970 Pro 512GB

There's no such thing as a Pro Plus

              • @Chavatar: Actually I'm a dumbass, yeah that makes sense.

I'll message the seller and see whats up.

              • @Chavatar: "MZ-V7S500BW" is probably the correct MPN for this SSD.

                • @chepsk8: Yep, I reckon they've just made an error with the ebay listing. If you message them let us know what they say

                  • +2

@Chavatar: They just got back to me with this:

                    "Hello

the correct MPN is MZ-V7S500BW this will be reflected on the invoice

I will email you a copy to s*******[email protected] that you will need to claim the cashback

                    Kind regards

                    [email protected]"

And I have the invoice with the correct MPN already emailed to me which lists the 970 evo plus as having an MPN of "MZ-V7S500BW".

      • I dont think this SSD can be cashback'd dude.

        • It is not on the Samsung website of Participating Products

        • Did they give you the physical invoice with the delivery? I bought one last week from them thinking it can be cashback'd, I guess I'll have to wait to see what the invoice say when I get it next week

    Any 1tbs?

the store and I came to the conclusion that we are not going to deal business with each other lol.

    • Fair comment.

Blatantly price jacked the base price by $30 since posting. Will take my business elsewhere.

Warnings for those claiming the cashback
    A) they tend to take 1 month+ to pay out
    B) you need the serial number from the actual SSD NOT the box
    C) if your serial number isn't accepted you need to email them and try again later

  • Was looking at 1tb version just a little while ago for 359 less 20% with $35 cashback ~ $252, but they just upped the base price to $389.
They've also upped the price on the OP to $209, so this deal is now $167.20 plus cashback
I think they just matched their cheapest competitor, but still have the advantage of cashback.
