Would any of those ROG laptops be suitable as a CAD, programming and video editing machine? And how would they compare to Lenovo such as the X1 Extreme?

  Specs-wise, yeah, the CPU/GPU/RAM is certainly capable but depending on what kind of video work you are doing, you may want to prioritise something that has a screen that suits your needs (or use an external monitor). I know that out of these, the ROG Zephyrus S only has a 1080p panel although with good colour accuracy.
  
  X1 Extreme Gen 2 should be arriving soon as well, so there may be some deals to be had on those devices.
