Great price, believe this is the lowest for this TV. Bought during the Boxing Day sales for $786 and for the price the TV is excellent value!

Is this better than the 55" Hisense P7 (or R7)?

    • +1

No, I don't believe it is.

      I think the P7 and R7 are roughly similar to last year's x80f and x85f, or this year's x80g and x85g.

      • Thanks - hoping for a deal on either of them then!

    • Not a duplicate. Product not in the other post's title.

        fairy muff

Mentioned but isn't in the title of the post which I think it is one of the exceptions for duplicates.
But will leave up to a moderator to unpublish if it is deemed a dupe.

  • Compared to RU7100 Samsung?

    • +2

I’d choose the RU7100. What kills these entry level Sony’s is the low contrast IPS panels. Blacks look terrible (washed out grey), especially in a dark room.

Anyone have opinions on this TV? Very tempted

I'm no expert when it comes to TV quality and technical specs, but I bought this in December and I think the image quality is excellent for the price you pay.

Based on my usage, my 'negatives' is:
      * has 3 HDMI ports
      * the OS isn't Android TV
      * no inbuilt Chromecast
      * when recording live TV to a HDD, you can't watch any other channels, but I'm use to being able to record and watch other channels from using a seperate HDD recorder, so this might just be a standard across TV's

I have no regrets spending $786 on this 7 months ago though as I can live without the above features… would probably have to pay an extra $300 to get them.

      • Spot on, I purchased this tv from the Sony sale on here a few months back. Had I known it wasn't Android OS and no built in Chromecast I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger. That said, it's a great TV and I already had a Chromecast hooked into my old Sony TV (HX-40 Bravia).

It does have Youtube and Netflix built into the TV and remote which is pretty neat. It also has a bunch of on-demand streaming services which is probably standard now days. My previous TV was from 2009-2010 so I'm not up to speed with all the new features.

    • Also, check out this post from the December deal, I think there are a few comments in there to do more with technical stuff.

    • Got one in December for brothers room, after shopback came to $702.

Great TV for the price, they have in most JB Hifi on display so go take a look quickly before buying.

Main thing to watch out for when it arrives is any scratches/damage on the screen and too much light bleeding.

  • Anyone know how long this deal lasts for? Would love to wall mount it in the bedroom but need to check if theres studs in the wall for mounting first.

    EDIT: I'm an idiot "Ends in 36h 46m 19s"

Would be more concerned about stock holding up during these prime deals

Bit of a side question but do big name brands make dumb TVs anymore?

    • This is pretty much as close as you'll get.

It's a non Android OS that's a bit clunky and has minimal apps. I've got the x70E and have it hooked up to an Apple TV and PS4. I'd strongly recommend getting an external box to extend the functionality of the TV. Shield or Apple TV seem to be the best of each environment.

Haven't used the internal OS since I got it besides the occasional settings change.

  • Help -How does this work?

Amazon Prime terms & Conditions says - If you don't intend to convert your membership to an annual or monthly membership, you can cancel your Amazon Prime membership on the Manage Prime Membership page. If you haven't placed an Amazon Prime-eligible order or used any Prime benefit, you are eligible for a full refund.

So if i sign up for the the one month trial and order this item and cancel within the month, Would i still get charged the full $59. Even worse i Hope it won't charge my card for the non member price for the TV.

    • Think a lot of people have done this and haven't heard of anyone getting charged the annual fee or the non-Prime price for goods.

    • Amazon Prime - like most subscriptions these days - lets you sign up for free trial, cancel immeditately and still retain access to the trial membership benefits till it runs out.

  • Anyone know what happens if I'm not home when they deliver it? Also how many years is warranty? Couldn't find anything on the amazon page expect mentioning its covered under warranty

edit: According to live chat they call you before hand to arrange the time they will deliver, and warranty is 1 year.

    • When they delivered mine in December they left it behind the door and no one called.

Lucky my brother got home early to bring it in.

  • They've just sold out of this it seems - currently unavailable in 55".

The 65" version is still there $979
43" also in stock but not really a deal at $699

    • The 65" version is still there $979

      Where are you seeing that?

      • Think the deal finished 16/07 at 23:59:59
