Thanks rep, nice price. What's the difference between this and this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Swann-4-Camera-4-Channel-1080p-W…

    • +1

      Hello There,

      The difference is ….

SWNVK-490SD4-AU offers expandable local storage with a pre-installed 32GB Micro SD Card.

SWNVK-490KH4-AU offers pre installed 1TB HDD.

      Hope this helps

      • Thanks, I missed that. Very helpful!

  • How much it may cost for the wiring/fitig?

    • +1

nothing if you do it yourself.

      4 x 18metre cables

      +

5 x wall power adapaters (one for unit, four for cameras)

      • Thanks

How many days it take to get the 1Tb full?

        • not sure as i don't have probably 2 weeks to a month before overwrite

          ethernet cable for router/modem

          hdmi for screen playback

        • Sorry, ignore.

        • Hello There,

The 1TB HDD can store months of recordings before it starts saving over older footage. Easily transfer videos to a USB stick or download via network with no ongoing fees ever.

1080p is so outdated! The picture quality won’t be that clear unless it’s a close up shot of a person. You may as well save your money and buy some dummy cams instead.

If you are really are serious about getting a good cam setup, go for at least 4MP cams. (Note: I am running Dahua 6MP cams for my system).

Also note that most newer tech systems run on Ethernet PoE (which means only 1 power source from the recording unit only).

    • Shows some links to buy

    • I assume the benefit of PoE is hardwired power and network in one?

      • yes, no need for power by the cameras.

    • +1 I have a 1080 swann system and its not good for too much. It even stopped sending me notifications and scrolling through a timeframe on your phone is a PIA.

Im going Arlo next, their 1080 on the PRO 2's cr@p all over the swann and the fact I don't have to run cables is definitely a plus. Im fine with pulling them down and recharging them once every 2-3months. Can get a 3 camera ARLO pro 2 for a similar price to this.

      • ARLO Pro 2 is better but getting them for similar or same price is uphill task. 3 camera system will cost you lot more than this price.

Was a 3 camera system for $479 from Amazon AU less then a month ago. I am happy to pay a bit more for quality and a friendly interface thats for sure.

Definitely waiting for more Arlo deals like that.

          • @worthy1: I knew you would say that Amazon price was lasted just around an hour and was probably price error. Amazon is selling it for 839 now.

            • @imranauz: right definitely worth a downvote then. It was a deal and people seemed to purchase it for that price. A deal is a deal no matter how long it lasts, plenty on here run out of stock or expire quick, error or not. Yes it went back to the normal price, thats what happens after a sale, no?. Arlo will cost people more, thats a given. It is a better quality more refined system. Like i said, im happy to pay MORE for a better quality system, If thats an issue for people then downvote away…

              • @worthy1: I did not down vote you. I am not even questioning the ARLO’s quality or value for money. My argument was just around the price of Arlo system. I am Arlo user and never used SWAN system. I still believe 489 for 3 ARLO camera system was unreal deal and getting that system for same price would be difficult.

      • Yeah I just got the 6 dvr4575 1080p system, the hardware is decent enough, images nice and clear, PIR detection is nice (though it's triggering so much right now from sunlight + heavy winds, still tweaking it though.

But, yes the Software (HomeSafe View, maybe the app for this one is better) is TERRIBLE, just go read the app store reviews…
I often have to kill the Android app for it to connect to the cams or it just forgets them and I have to re-select the device/cameras
Also you can't access any of the historic data or videos saved due to a triggered event (must use directly from device or you can use the windows software)
Speaking of which the windows software ONLY supports IE, with an unsigned/entrusted plugin, it will not support any modern browser or mobile browser that I have tried.

You can make it upload to DropBox (no other cloud services supported) it only does the still images when it gets triggered by motion.

So be aware for it to be a viable security device you must secure it somewhere where it's unlikely to be stolen along with all your valuables or all you have left for evidence is Dropbox stills (or you were lucky enough to load the app while someone is on the property and then you tapped on record on your phone, thus keeping the recording on the phone, otherwise it's only on the device itself)

Swann really need to hire some millennials to make some good modern software… before they go bankrupt when Swann loses all it's reputation that it's currently coasting on….

    • Luv it when I get negged. Just shows that my comments get read and my 2 cents worth is not worthy of 2 cents. To the neggers- buy it if u want, then live with it and don’t complain later.

I have had 4 cctv systems of various configs in my lifetime. So if you don’t like what I am trying to share with experiences/thoughts, neg away. As long as it makes u happy.

  • Also be aware, QLD police have told friends of mine, that wireless web cams aren't admissible as evidence, it must be wired.

Still trying to find this in writing though

    • +2

lol that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. What is their logic behind that? can use phone cameras, dash cam etc but a wireless camera attached to your house is no good lol

    • Yeah I call bulls*it on this

  • No mention of ONVIF. Is this standards compliant?

I would not want to be stuck using Swann apps, given past experience.

Are you still using Active-X for web clients, or something more modern?

    • Swann is only for Swann. No ONVIF.

      • A pity. My old analogue HD Swan uses standard interface between camera and DVR. Also does rtsp.

  • Hi Rep, do you have any deals on wired NVR systems?

  • I want something like this to keep an eye on my dogs in the yard/ kennels.
Would I be getting notifications every minute telling me my dogs are moving around?
