oh, look at that, magic, now it's working. thanks for your assistance Tony 😃

I suspect it was because I had all the security tags off, ie. set on, ie, lock card, restrict payWave, restrict internet trx, and while I had turned those off 9hrs ago, it takes some time to actually turn off, they're not instant real-time settings.

Yes that would've done it and yes I've experienced it taking a while to catch up before you can start using Apple Pay.

  • oh my god, what a clusterf*
I dont get the option to select SAV, all transactions go via Visa.
I'm done, out of here, not worth $20.

    • I've mentioned this elsewhere in comments already however for your benefit. You need to ensure you completely manually re-add your card this means you can't do any OS level prompts to add it back you've gotta physically scan the card again. You also can't load the card virtually using any of the banking apps.

And yes I agree these idiots didn't really think this through because they didn't actually have this card type because it didn't exist when they rolled out Apple Pay initially Instead they should've realised no one's card that's been added to Apple Pay will have the functionality that was only recently added.

As I said previously I hate to know what the support calls have been like. Anyway we should be launching our official full website in the next couple weeks and I think this is going to be my first article. They should've had a section on their competition page that explains what to do if you don't see eftpos SAV.

      • oh. my. god.
It simply doesn't pass the mum & dad, or grandma test, not to mention the payments professional, experienced *Pay user/tester.

I'm not re-adding it. deleting it remains an attractive option. I now have no intention of using this a/c or card for actual banking payments transactions, visa or eftpos. I might have done if it worked as advertised. It doesnt

I opened the account last week, I haven't received the physical card yet. I dont particularly need the physical card.
I added the virtual card last night

Both the "banking" suncorp app and the "other" suncorp app keep pestering to add to Apple Pay. Trying to figure out those two apps is an whole other story

I really wasn't going to bother as I opened the account for the rewards, 5% on every Coles and Woolies purchase, 7% @JB HiFi, etc. but for another $20 bucks, why not. it wont cost me to pay for a couple of coffees, and I noted that osko was available to the BSB A/c# from another account, so I rolled the dice and sent $10 to suncorp late last night.

The banking app throws you out to the wallet, but I dont have the card yet. Funnily enough the wallet wants to add a card from other institution (Macquarie) that is missing on my iphone, that I have on my iwatch but not phone

The "other" suncorp app does the virtual load. Yay!
The visa transactions work fine, as they do from the other 6 cards in the wallet.

        thanks Tony for the explanation.

Yeah, you really have to be into this stuff like me.

I'm not re-adding it. deleting it remains an attractive option. I now have no intention of using this a/c or card for actual banking payments transactions, visa or eftpos. I might have done if it worked as advertised. It doesnt.

Most people that want to start doing this from today and hadn't done it already would be okay because they're mostly getting prompt to set up the cards manually on Apple Pay by scanning them into the Wallet App and if they were doing that from now on that would be fine.

The problem will stem from people wanting to do it virtually and people that have the card pre-existing an Apple Pay. Unfortunately due to a failure of marketing of the first one that's not much of an issue. However, the second one is quite a big one.

Hopefully, in the future, Apple can resolve some of these issues themselves by adding more functionality and working with the banks directly but at this stage this type of card "dual-network debit card" there are only two banks supporting them and it's relatively new also does not exist anywhere else in the world this Apple Pay functionality is an Australian first.

I opened the account last week, I haven't received the physical card yet. I dont particularly need the physical card. I added the virtual card last night

Yeah, this is where the problem is the reason why it doesn't work as that functionality is not supported by Apple and eftpos.

As I've discussed previously dual-network debit cards do not currently work with virtual loading to your device but they're only new so I'm sure that functionality will eventually come hopefully anyway.

Both the "banking" suncorp app and the "other" suncorp app keep pestering to add to Apple Pay. Trying to figure out those two apps is an whole other story

Yeah it's a mess made worse by the fact that you can only use the Suncorp App not the banking version to add your card virtually to Apple Pay.

I noted that osko was available to the BSB A/c# from another account

Another thing they've messed up. Remember if you want to send that money you transferred in out again instantly you need to use their Suncorp App not the banking one as the functionality is not in the banking app also.

Suncorp really needs to take responsibility for the crapload of mess created with two apps having different types of functions and then adding new functions to an app that's not fully functional without adding them to the other app.

The banking app throws you out to the wallet, but I dont have the card yet.

Correct that's how that works in the banking app.

That's because as I mentioned above they have only implemented this in there Suncorp App. Virtually loading the card in Apple Pay result in you getting loaded a Visa only card because it's not supported on dual-network debit cards.

Funnily enough the wallet wants to add a card from other institution (Macquarie) that is missing on my iphone, that I have on my iwatch but not phone

Yes this is a new feature Apple's added in later versions of iOS.

  • i'm probably a bit late now but trying anyway. Have added the card to my apple pay and was able to choose default option to eftpos sav. Havent made any purchases yet but wanted to know if I still need to download the suncorp app or not? I actually forgot how to initiate apple pay now LOL. Do I just position the phone near the machine and it will prompt me to apple pay? And then do I have to choose the sav option again or not, since I have already set it as default?
