  • I'd been buying jerky from Costco @ 275g for $8.65. Can anyone please advice me the difference of those and Biltong? Never ate any Biltong before and thinking of trying some, but 1/2 kg for $32.50 still seems kinda pricy to me (because I never had any and can only compare it with those I get at costco).

The difference between jerky and biltong is the tase. Jerky you taste the marinade and biltong tastes like steak with spices, more meaty. If you want to try our jerky we can send you a free sample for the first time. email us at biltong.net.au

      • Who's in for a FREE sample…let's Ozbargain:)

      • Nice! Just requested a sample. Thanks.

    • Hey dadots, slightly off-topic here but is there anyway to find out the prices of stuff in costco without joining and going to get into the store? I just don't know if it would be worth paying $60 to get cheap jerky every now and then, and would like to know what/how much other stuff is at costco. Thanks in advance.

      • +1

Costco do not advertise their prices as they change regularly. Best way to check it out is to tag along with a friend as they can take one non-member in for a look see, however, if you want to buy anything your friend has to make the purchase.

If you don't know anyone, you can always join up, take a look around and then seek a refund of the membership if you're not satisfied, as Costco have a no questions asked refund policy regarding their membership!?

  • lol its a bit scary when you are welcomed with your first post

I suspect its because beer + jerky = ftw

make the tasty salty treats on time and I think you are going to find a nice home here

If not .. beware .. YOU SHALL NOT PASS (and yes thats deliberate caps)

I'm a little confused, is this your normal price and you are just advertising the site or is it actually half price, ie you standard price for 1 kg is $120?

    • Yes please explain??? From you title should get 1KG from $32.50

      • Isn't that 1/2 kg. for $32.50 ?

    • yeah.. I'm confused too… if it is $32.50 for 1/2 kg… what is the bargain here?

    • -3

      1 kg is $65.00/kg

      • So? What exactly is your bargain?

This is not a advertising site. This is a bargain site

If you are listing it as 1/2KG for $32.50, I'll be negging your deal as spam because that seems to be your normal price.

        • -4

About 2 weeks ago there was jerky advertised as half price for $37.50 for 1/2kg, therefore $32.50 is a bargain

        • +4

No offense biltong, your website is stating the normal price as $32.50

There is no mention of a discount or a sale at all.

And did you advertise in here 2 weeks ago that this was going at $37.50?

It's as good as a car salesman listing a car at $28,000 and saying 2 weeks ago it was selling at $35,000 but nobody saw it

        • +1

There is no mention of a discount or a sale at all.

          agreed, this is just advertising…

      • Is it really half price then? Do you actually charge $130 for a kilo normally? O_o

EDIt: Actually reading the title again, maybe he means it is half price if you buy half a kilo… >_>

      • +1

so 1/2 a kg at half price as advertised in title should be $16.25

        • +5

No he means that it is 50% of the price if you buy half as much….

Guys please don't make the rep change the title. This thread belongs in the epic thread!

        No Preservatives or MSG Added

        Does that mean

"No Preservatives and No MSG Added"

or does it mean, some have "No Preservatives" and some have "MSG added" ????

    • -2

      awesome

  • confusion galore. Is it $32.50 for half a kilo?

    • +1

      Yes

  • I see where the Indo cattle went :p

    • Maybe they got the cattle at 1/2 price?

      • +1

No, they got 1/2 the cattle at 1/2 the price and are passing on the savings…

  • Half price for half the quantity is not a bargain. Biltong is so much better than jerky though, if you come back with an actual bargain for biltong, you will make alot of friends here.

    • i disagree, i can't stand Biltong, but i love jerky… Biltong is not chewy enough…

      • +1

With it's thin short pieces Jerky is the dainty younger brother of Biltong and is for uncultured palates

      • +1

youre either not eating jerky or you're not eating biltong.

        It's chewy as hell

  • As the other comments have stated, this is just the regular price

  • No deal, just spam.

  • Absolutely spam

What a shame. This is actually pretty awesome jerky, I bought some after it was mentioned in another post as an alternative. If only they'd offered a couple of dollars off their normal price, or free shipping on orders over 2kg etc. to keep OzBargainers happy. It is their first post, I wonder if they just didn't get the spirit of the site. Unfortunately this type of product doesn't have an RRP, so you can't really compare it to a competitor and say "I'm $5 cheaper, so it is a bargain". It would be if it was say an iphone being sold $10 cheaper than everyone else selling at RRP.

Maybe it isn't too late for the OP to amend the deal and offer a bargain OVER AND ABOVE what they ordinarily advertise on their website, which some of us already know about. It would be worth it to them to run at little to no profit on this deal to establish new customers. I for one am hooked on their product and will definitely be a return customer, they can make up their profits then.

This is really good stuff - I lived nearby when I lived in Perth, and bought from them a few times - but this is a bizarre post. I'm waiting for it to be 75 per cent off when they sell it in 250g packs for $16.25…
