    lol DROPPEDDDDD so fast!

  • i was shocked about this price too when the 3 sells guy told me

    • best thing is the phone only started shipping as of this week!

  • Better than Desire HD? Just ordered one through Vodafone for a total of $53 p/m for 12 months

    • +4

This would have to be the best android phone out right now imo.

The DHD is a capable android phone, but it is seven months old. The specs of the SGS2 easily trump that of the DHD (eg dual core processor, 8MP camera etc)

      See http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=3621&idPhone2=…

      • Desire HD has an 8 MP camera too!

This phone is lighter, thinner, faster processor, nicer screen and larger battery spec.

Happy with my desire HD but definitely was looking at my mates one with envy as it's a great deal!

        • only problem with the HTC's is the camera quality doesn't seem all that great… (my wife has the z which is the best phone ever with the kboard and touch screen) however, the camera on it (only 5MP) just doesn't cut it… but according to gsmarena, even the new 8MP cameras aren't as good as the galaxy's camera… shame none of them have keyboards as well…

        • read the reviews online about SGS2 and Sensation comparison. HTC beats SGS2 hands down on camera performance.

plus no one wants the keyboards now anyway. if you really like keyboard try motorola milestone 3 that just released in CHINA and hope we get the same one here.

*"Plus the not-so-good stills and video do tarnish the high-end gloss of the HTC Sensation.

But all those downsides don't mean a thing unless the competition can do better. So, can it?

The Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II is the obvious alternative - it's powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core too. But the camera does better, the 4.3" SuperAMOLED Plus is brilliant and the chipset (that is CPU, GPU and RAM) is faster in benchmarks. It's also amazingly thin and light."*

          • unless i read it wrong - reading it over and over - its a little ambiguous… but think yeah, i may have misread it… saying its not that great but better than the sgs2

cool re milestone 3… I do like the keyboards, they are faster, the HTC&Samsung UI's are pretty sweet though…rumor is that it only has 512MB ram though :S

5-row QWERTY keypad as well sweet, numbers on the keypad would make it much faster, constantly switching to symbols and back is a pain..

          http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_milestone_3_gets_officially…

          lol - N9 still single core…

        • yea Sensation only beats Samsung at camera. oh and price range. Sensation can be obtained for $550 from overseas if you are not with telstra, Samsung still at about $150 or more than Sensation.

if that factors in your choices!

  • +3

    yeah better, but shit voda

  • shit, i just bought a DHD through vodafone last sunday for $53 for 12 months on a $49 plan..battery really sucks, reviews seems this one far better

    • +2

well DHD released in Nov 2010. its about 7 months old now.

    • Just take it back and change phones.. you're within the cooling off period. Just say the phone doesnt meet your expectations and the battery life is too poor for you. You should be able to cancel that contract without problems to get this phone.. just depends on whether you want a 12month contract or a 24month contract..?

      • Didn't realise this is 24 months. I'll stick with my 12 month plan with the DHD as I'm moving overseas in 12 months and it will be unlocked

    • Unless they have significantly improved it with the SGS2, HTC Sense walks all over Samsung's UI. I still find my Desire to be a perfectly competent phone and for now 1GHz CPU is more than adequate.

      • HTC Sense is good. TouchWiz 4.0 is much improved.

But in all seriousness, who buys an Android without plans to change the launcher anyway?

  • +1

I think the 12mth one is cheaper? Total cost $768

  • -1

i dont knw why HTC released DHD with that battery, a mobile is a portable device means it has to last the battery for 1 day atleast with the minimal use, but DHD won't.

its not about 7 months old or something, but I agree better specs samsung is already cheaper

    • hahaa my DHD lasted me 3 days minimal use, and 1 day extensive use..just need to root your phone ;)

      • HTC usually dont last long, the new sensation is looking around 5 hrs extensive use www.gsmarena.com

      • Which ROM?

        • Miui + lord kernel

      • Hi jasecs,, will you pls tell me how you are getting the battery life with DHD, which rom, firmware, a guide or link to the package or the steps would be appreciated, i am new to the rooting, but stuck up with the battery life of DHD nd really want to get more life, tried different ways, nothing working

As far as i am concerned this is a dupe of this post:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/46127

Spruking different plans, but the same basic product from the same provider.

    • was out of stock before

    • +1

People post same product but what matters here is the price. Take it easy……

    • +2

Yes, of course any plan from vodafone on the SGS2 from now on will of most definitely be a dupe of a post from a fortnight ago when the prices were different…how foolish of us to think otherwise! :p

  • how to root the gingerbread, i tried different ways, gingerbreak etc, not working

  • how are you getting this $29 + $15?.

    • Scroll down, 4th from the bottom

      • It is only available for 24 months
        NOT 12 months

  • thanks for highlight it again

  • This phone does not play the latest Tegra only games without using Chainfire Hack (even then its not guaranteed).. You'll have to wait for the Tegra version which is suppose to be due out later to do so.

    • +4

Thats the problem with Androids :(
Always seems like the next great phone is only 3 months away, but the cycle keeps repeating.

      • yeah i cant wait for HTC's response to this!!!
or something like this with a slide out kboard!

        • +1

HTC Sensation is slower and screen is less vibrant. Same poor HTC battery life.

        • yeah, and also the camera isn't apparently as good…
my comment was more directly at the next best thing always being something within reach. though in this case it seems to be only on bar if not not as good as the S due to these issues.

  • -1

think sensation would be better but its not out in oz yet:(

    • nah check out gsm arena, (and the above two posts re battery and camera)

  • Incredible or Galaxy s2?

  • +3

perhaps the price is dropping so fast because everyone knows the sgs3 is coming out in less than a year. samsung should've kept it quiet

    • +1

apple is an ass, thats why. they asked to see samsung's forthcoming phone in the lawsuit.

      • Seriously? Wow, I didn't know that!

        I can't believe a court aquiesced to such a ridiculous request? :o

        • the most ridiculous point is the judge is pro apple, and approved it. samsung also asked to see apple's next phone but was rejected. i think

    • SGS 3 is not coming out any time this year.

However, Samsung is making an LTE version of SGS 2 for later this year.

That's why people are saying they're making the next version already.

But it'll be the same phone with LTE capability.

      • early next yr tho SGS3 will be released. Seeing how SGS2 is just released in June, and SGS3 rumoured 1Q2012 thats less than 9months.

  • great phone, good price;
anyone know if I can get both the 10% off for existing customers and the $84 moneyback from MoneyBackCo?

    • anyone know if i can help a friend by adding another service (10% off every month) into my account then transfer the account to my friend?

  • +1

iphone 4 killer……… haha out come the trolls!

  • I have Galaxy S - amazing!!! The S2 looks soooo good too. But I have a plan on Optu$, good enough coverage in suburbia, and heaps cheaper than TelStra, but avoid Voda peeps - my partner has the same phone as me on Voda and it is terrible - the coverage is shocking (in Melb at least).

  • cheaper than the iPhone already???

Damn, wondering could trade my iPhone to this, this phone looks awesome!!

  • -1

Well my dad has the galaxy and I also play with the demo in Optus. I am so glad that I didi not go for S2.

A phone is something you use everyday and thankfully HTC does have its advantage on the UI. I don't want to root a phone, and I don't want to do all the tweaks mentioned on all the forums. I just want to pick up a phone and start using it straight away. I can say for sure I can do that with HTC, Samsung is very close to that and it also has it own app store. Just there are some widgets/shortcut that I think is important but it is not aviliable for Samsung.

    • if you want great out of box experiences. Get WP7. They did good job and recently got higher rating than Android phones in terms of out of box experiences. You also don't need to mucking around with it as early version of OS means cleaner/smooth operations. Their App population is growing at exponential rate.

Just my view for your consideration. Not a WP7 fan. I'm currently using i4. Just some info that's all :)

  • Looks like they upped it to $29+$20, unless I'm missing something.
