[VIC] 3 Bottles of The Glenlivet Founder Reserve 1L for $0 (Pickup Only) @ Melbourne Duty Free

814

First post - please be easy on me…
Looks like a glitch in the system. If you add 3 bottles to the cart, it shows as $0. It is on Melbourne duty free site and only for 'reserve and collect'. It works for few of '3 for $135' offer.

    • Thanks, link updated.

  • +2

Seems to work for other 3 for $$$ deals too!

  • No way of actually getting these unless someone is flying?

    • +10

Wouldn’t waste my time even if you waz. They will cancel order

    • Sorry, it is only for people traveling. ;-(

  • +20

A fyi: I was able to add 5 bottles to my cart and it still showed as free - you could probably order 100 and get it free.

Edit: I added 100, you can LOL

    • +9

Good luck getting 1 for free. 0% chance they’ll honour anything

      • -3

Obviously - they'd be at a massive loss. Perhaps if a few people added 3 they may not get alerted.

I also really don't feel like flying down to Melb to collect it haha

        • +4

They may not get alerted as you walk in to collect something for zero dollars?
Asking for your order is the point they will become alerted.

    • +1

      Buying 100 now.

      • +5

        You -
Catches the plane from SA to Melbourne just to collect it
Goes straight home with it in luggage
Airport Security: Can you please explain why you have 100L of alcohol in your luggage??

        • +11

SA to Melbourne? Duty free is only for international travel.

          • @puffinfresh: Oh didn't know that.

Time to find a cheap international flight that has a good cancellation policy

            • +5

@CC123: Cancelling wouldn't work either. Duty free pick up is past security, so you would need to at least check into the flight, if not actually fly.

              • -1

                @puffinfresh: Ahhhhhh

              • @puffinfresh: You can check in, go through security, cancel your ticket and then leave

                • @spaceflight: But then you need go through customs on the way out.

I nearly scored cheap duty free on a domestic jetstar flight which was one of those internal international flights hops.

We landed in brizzy in international, i had my booze walking up to the counter when an announcement came over telling dutyfree staff to check for tickets before selling…….so close! As my ticket allowed me to skip customs.

                  • +2

@[Deactivated]: They always require a passport and boarding pass before they can put the sale through. Literally impossible to buy it without a boarding pass.

      • +1

        The booze Baron.

    • +21

I added 2500 bottles; it is still free (after A$162,475.00 discount)

      • +6

        Do it or no balls

    • +3

2.25l limit per person isn't it?

      • No clue

      • It is dependant on the destination country. So might be different on the way out of Australia. Yes, 2.25 on the way in.

  • asks for flight ticket numbers and only works for pick up no shipping :(

  • Total To Pay A$194.97

    • +1

Still showing a discount of 194.97

    • Goto the checkout…$194.97 - $197.97 discount = $0.

  • holy crap ahahah

  • +7

No way they'll honour this, dont waste your time

  • -2

All gone they change prise back to normal

  • +1

"The requested payment method is not available"

  • +17

Can confirm the max order limit is 10,000 bottles.
Just saved myself $649,900, thanks op…

    • At that savings you book an international flight, pick up your alcohol and just walk back out of the airport.

Make the flight business class just to be baller.

      • +1

        'Pick up your alcohol'
        ??

10 000L, that would require a little more than pick up and just walk back out.

        • +1

Probably need a cargo for that.

    • +1

At least ur generations to come will be fully stocked :)

  • +3

How the f… did you find this LOL

  • +10

Not a deal as it won't get honoured.

    • -2

      You don't know!

      • +8

You're right, they will just give you $135 worth of alcohol for free. Yeah, nah.

        • -2

Maybe everyone on OzB will think the same so not many people order and no one at Dufry notices?

Also, requirements are a bit niche. You need to be already flying internationally.

        • -1

I'm still hoping for a voucher or similar.

    • -6

      You dont work there

      • I don't, but I know that a business's primary motive is to make a profit, and giving away products for free isn't necessarily going to help achieve that.

    • -1

      No sh!t Sherlock

  • Tried with an old card that's since been killed, but the info should be right… told the payment method isn't accepted.

Might try again later but not expecting much, especially considering it's pickup and I'd have to deal with a human, likely to tell me to (profanity) off, cheers anyways OP, fair effort.

  • How would you pick this bad boys up if you have to have a legit flight.

    • -1

Make your order now. Go to Dufry service counter on the way to your gate. Get given booze. Leave.

Or go to Dufry service counter after arriving home. Leave.

You have to add to your order when and where you will pick up.

      • I was asking if you don't have any flights how would you pick this up?

        • -1

You can't. Doing so would be illegal.

These prices are only available because you're exporting the items from Australia.

          • @Murdrum: I just realised I said "these prices".

Duty free is only available because you're exporting the items from Australia.

      • Go to Dufry service counter on the way to your gate. Get given booze. Leave.

You can't get there without a valid ticket and clearing customs……..

    • +1

Cheap getaway and free Booze What else you want?

        https://ibb.co/VmR2156

        • I saw something like this too after creating an account. Checkout as guest let me place an order with the discount.

          • @Murdrum: That worked, cheers. Bought 3chivas brothers and 1Auchentoshan for $3.99. Thanks op.

  • +7

Spam. Obv. price glitches are deals now?

    • +2

Hey mate they all probably still believe Santa is still real 😂

    • Yeah I don't know why people are even trying to put orders through.

It's just making unnecessary work for the people on the other end who have to process and cancel the orders.

      • +5

On the contrary it justifies their employment and further resources towards a robust e-commerce platform that doesn't glitch. Some people get bargains, some people get more billable hours. It's a win win from my perspective

        • I disagree.

The brunt of these unnecessary spammed orders will be felt by the lower level employees who have no say in what kind of e-commerce system gets used in the first place. They're the ones who are going to have to filter through and/or cancel the orders, having their time wasted and possibly falling behind on actual orders. They're not going to be getting more billable hours either.

This isn't a big enough of a (profanity) to change an e-commerce system over, or for anyone to really care. But it is enough to ruin the day of some workers.

          • +1

@Harold Halfprice: Lots of assumptions about the workplace that is similar to a "what if" - having a connection with this business I can confidently say they will have no problem with your perceived issues.

They're the ones who are going to have to filter through and/or cancel the orders, having their time wasted and possibly falling behind

It sounds like your experiences were truly terrible in whatever roles you had to see that! Things will be fine and I can guarantee that the website manager will have the financial and managerial support to address this. It's an expensive e-commerce system (Magento) that will be able to bulk cancel/invalidate such irregularities

  • I'm travelling mid August. I could not order even though my flight and card details are all valid. Card was my every day mastercard debit.

Just says "requested payment method is not available"

Please report if you have actually placed an order!

    • +1

Try ordering with something else so the total isn't $0.

Edit: I just saw that you already thought of this below.

  • +1

I fly on Friday next week, shows as $0 to pay but get the requested payment method is not available error.

Duty free allowance into the UK is only 1l of spirits anyway…

    • Thanks for confirming!

    • +2

Payment system is probably failure because it's trying to charge $0. Generally that wouldn't even be sent to the gateway.

      • You're saying we should add something that costs money!

I'm happy to try this out.

      • So potentially add a small item?

    • Buy 3 dump 2.

    • You got a whole plane passengers to share.

  • +4

OP @alphaRalf did you actually place the order before posting the deal?

This is definitely learning the hard way if you did not.

    • +3

Not everyone purchases a deal they may post, i know i don't…

In this case though, i do see ur point!

      • In this case, I'd be wondering why OP was surfing duty free if he wasn't already eligible to buy 🤣

And surely you would test that a freebie is orderable before posting. It's free!

        • & we all know by now, these "Deals" are Always too good to be true…

        • I was just comparing the prices on duty site and accidentally found out. 😋

    • Sorry, I didn't as I was not traveling. Just tried adding it to cart. Thought it would benefit someone.

      • +2

After some messing about we managed to place orders! Well done!

  • Is this the new FaceApp? Hand over your details!

  • +2

    Epic first post lol!

  • i am flying internationally at the end of this month, hope they won't cancel the order or charge later when picking up.

    • Hope in one hand. Sh!t in the other… see which one fills up first lol

      • Lol

  • -1

Damn - I tried to check out but it's showing $ 185 payable now lol. I think it's gone now.

Edit: just realised I logged in using my RED account.

    • Guest checkout only. You can mix any 3for$135 offers

  • +3

  • +1

I’m traveling overseas next week - order went through, charged me $2 for 3 bottles. We shall see but I’m not too fussed if it gets cancelled.

  • +3

This has less of a chance of being honoured than the 1c Razer phone

    • +2

Nothing against op, it's a good find but it won't be honoured, especially with people ordering 100+ bottles. Then again I do have an international flight soon…

  • +1

    they fixed it now :)

  • Freaky Friday….free drinks

  • +1

    fixed

  • This might have worked if you were flying out tonight but who is on ozb a few hours before an international flight?? I'm usually way too busy running around doing last min trip stuff to be…

    • +6

Are you serious? I'm on OzBargain 20 times a day, regardless of the day!

    • Sitting at the airport after bag check…why not.
