Damn, just what I was looking for..

    • Thank you OP. I got one!

      I will run my ACER XB270HU (27", 1440p, 144hz) as a second monitor.

  • +2

I've been on the look out for this as part of a new build. Great price! Got one!

  • This or the alienware?

    • +3

Can we get the Alienware for anywhere near close this price? I think they're close enough in quality that this would win just from price.

    • +1

These are almost identical - main difference is the Dell support/warranty/quality control.

If that's worth an extra few hundred bucks, the Dell is a better deal. Otherwise, save your money.

      • Note i think the Dell ones does not have speakers, if that matters to you.

        • Double note, the speakers on this monitor sound terrible (major crackling sounds) even when on low volume, it could be a firmware/batch issue that many people encounter. I was a little bit disappointed, I don't use speakers enough to warrant buying another high quality pair (got 1 for TV), and the odd times where I'm tired of using headphones I would have like at least laptop-level sound quality out of the 7w pair on this X34P. Anyway, I bought it for the brilliant screen, and it delivers.

If you could get AW for this amount of dollars, definitely get AW.

The only major difference is this is 100Hz and AW is 120Hz. The rest are identical.

      • +2

They are both 100Hz standard and overclockable to 120Hz. The Dell's stand looks better, also peace-of-mind support/warranty.

  • +3

Deal might be good but it's just Futu/Kai Seng account, not Nvidia.

They even went so far as to register Nvidia official store as a trading name with the ABR.

A little disengenous unless it really is officially endorsed by Nvidia, but I highly doubt it.

Still doesn't make it a bad deal though.

  • -1

It's showing as $917.15 for me. Correct the title price?
Edit: Plus $10 delivery, my bad.

  • I need X35!!!!

    • My wallet doesn't but my eyes do.

  • +1

whats the hdr version of this now? if they just add that then its an almost perfect monitor assuming 120hz out of the box

    • +2

The uber high end HDR version costs $4000 though Acer Predator X35 UWQHD 200hz G-Sync QLED HDR FALD 35in Monitor

      • +2

ahh right i did see some asus and dell versions that cost redic

was really hoping someone would just add hdr to the existing 34/35s and call it a day

      • +1

you'll probably need a 3080Ti or even a 4080Ti to run most AAA games at 200fps though.

      • Probably when the X35 comes down to $900, then we'll have a sub 1k card that's good enough to push 200fps :))

  • I'm holding out for a discount on the Kogan version.

    • +2

If you're buying monitor for gaming on Nvidia card, don't get the Kogan freesync monitors.

      • -1

freesync works fine with Nvidia cards. I'm not going to spend another $500 just to get G sync. I could have put that $500 into a better processor or graphics card.

      • +1

Erm… No, freesync doesn't work fine with Nvidia cards. You're almost guaranteed to see artifacts, stutters, etc. that totally ruin gaming experience. I bought and returned the X273KP (certified gsync compatible), Phillips 349P7FUBEB (same specs as Kogan's but higher quality panel and build), a 4k freesync LG, and also tried out the kogan monitor from a mate. None of them works flawlessly, even the certified one. I wasted 2 months to research, buy and return freesync monitors. In the end I just bought this X34P and call it a day.

Also this is IPS, kogan's is VA.

        • -3

Yeah, ok, not worth another $500. I'd rather two Kogans. VA gives ever so slightly worse colour but faster response times (and the Kogan is ever so slightly faster).

        • +1

Whether it worths another $500 is totally depends on what card you have and your usage though. If you have a very weak/old Nvidia card, probably make sense to just sell it off and buy the new 5700/XT which have very good p/p, then combine with the Kogans for superior values. But if you're on higher-end Nvidia like 2080/super/ti, 2070 super, or 1080 ti then no point in cutting corner. I mean, if you are looking for an ultrawide 1440p 100+Hz, you most likely already have a ~1k GPU to push that monitor, then you would also have spent another 1k-1k5 for a PC with matching power (i7 8700/9700 or AMD 2700/3600 and up), then why save $500 on an inferior monitor.

X34P IPS crushes the Kogan/Phillips (both use Samsung panels) on color and response time (VA is generally bad with response time which results in annoying/tiring smearing/ghosting espcially those with sensitive eyes). The one area where VA is good is watching movie, thanks to superior contrast. So if you watch movie a lot, sometimes do games and not much else, VA is a fair choice.

Also I feel there's something weird with image quality of the Kogan/Phillips VA panels, it's like there's a net on top of the screen, I can almost see the pixel lines and dots when looking from normal viewing distance. IPS screens are just crystal clear, it's like looking through a window. This is something reviews usually don't mention, and you can only find out by yourselve or from actual owners.

          • -2

@Kingduytan: You are completely wrong. VA has a better response time than IPS. Stop spreading bullshit.

        • My intention is to warn you about and hopefully spare you the frustration I've been through when trying to get freesync monitors to work with Nvidia card. If you are already set on the Kogan monitor, and willing to compromise quality for cheaper price then of course it's up to you.

Perhaps you was thinking of TN when talking about response time? You should do a bit more research to avoid purchasing based on misconception. Specs from website: Kogan response time 16ms, X34P response time 4ms. The ghosting/smearing of the Kogan/Philips VA panels is unbearable after I played shooter game for a few days.

  • You are joking… literally looking for this all week. Ended up buying it yesterday for 988.

    Should I refund ? XD

    • No

    • Yes

    • For $60 I would depending on where you got it from and if you've used it yet!

    • I couldn't wait either. I ended up buying it from HN for $950.

Fantastic monitor, no issues at all.

    • Well you might as well just buy a second one.

  • Ah bloody hell told myself I'd buy one of these when they go on sale. Decisions decisions!

  • Been putting in the hours researching monitors for the last week and this is my choice. Great price but will it get lower once the X35 becomes more available……

    • I hope so, if it gets down to $800 on sale I'm out of excuses not to get. Not convinced the new model will impact the price that much as it is at such a diffe rent price point! We can only hope.

    • +1

I don't think it can get much more lower… The 27" 1440p 144hz gsync monitors have been around for a few years, but their price just hover around $700-$900. The X34P and Dell was much more expensive at the start compare to those, but mostly because ultrawide were not exactly mainstream. At ~$900 mark, this is getting close to the non-widescreen 1440p, I feel this is about as good as it can get. If you buy it now and half a year later price drop to say $800, then you already enjoy the hell out of your investment, so no regrets. I bought it 6 months ago for $1070 and still think it's not a bad price at all.

My next monitor upgrade will be when the like of X35 becomes mainstream at $1k…

    • x35 is like $4000 avaliable now, theyre not even close to the same price range.

Same thing will happen as when the 4k 144hz HRD monitors came out for thousands of dollars, the 1440p 144+hz monitors just stay the same price.

  • This or PG279Q ?

    • Depends on whether you use 1 or 2 monitors. 2 of this will be the ultimate choice XD

Seriously though, if you also use your PC for work and absolutely need 2 monitors, then PG279Q will make more sense, otherwise just go for this. Personally I'm more productive using a single ultrawide, and gaming/movies are just so much better on an ultrawide due to the immersive feeling, it's a no brainer.

  • How come I keep getting the error message "This code can't be applied to your order." when trying to use the code PLUNGE?
