Will be further price reductions on 9th gen.
10th gen is imminent in response to Zen 2

    • +3

Yeah but Zen 2 release was "Imminent" since october 2018.
The last few years have been endless if you're the kind of guy who can't buy somehting if a big release is rumored a few months away.
I think they're doing it intentionally, Intel and AMD. Letting rumors spread that their stuff is coming way sooner than it actually is so people wont buy anything until they have their prettiest dress on.

      • You'll be waiting forever with that attitude, Intel haven't even announced anything yet.

Upvote is mainly for the X34, very tempting

        • +1

When you say Intel has not announced any thing yet, does this count?

          https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/proces…

ES chips are out in the wild.
Look at how Intel reacted to Ryzen with the release of 8th Gen and it’s not hard to imagine Intels response to Zen 2.

It’s just like buying Zen plus a couple of months ago. Zen 2 drops and the pricing on Zen + has dropped significantly.
As they say, a fool and his money are easily separated, feel free to be that guy 😉

    • this price is only because of Ebay plus discount, if your that worried of a price drop get yourself a 28degrees CC & you will be covered for 12months for any price drop

      • How many clauses are there with the price drop protection? Has anyone here confirmed they've successfully claimed on it?

I went to claim on an ANZ price guarantee and the insurer advised that it's only on printed catalogue items, which obviously would not cater for most purchases if done via Internet these days (this is clearly intentional to not have to pay out on most potential claims).

        • +2

many ppl have claimed and got a return,
ive read it heaps of times on ozbargain comments.

which is why i got one recently. lol.

          • @hashish: Thanks for the reply. Good to hear and might need to consider it.

It wasn't the reason why I went with an ANZ card, but we bought a new washing machine from Appliances Online, the day after the purchase (when they delivered it too!) they dropped the price by another $100. Called Allianz who handle the CC insurance for ANZ and was told the above, the call centre operators clearly know it's crap as they have their standard lines to say to explain the eligibility. ANZ market the card with price guarantee/protection, with no details in sight around what would lead to eligibility.

            • @sghetti: had no issues with 28deg, its really good, & no annual fee, best when you purchase to immediately pay it off to avoid fees, other than that no complaints on making claims, sign up keep it on side & use it for high end purchases that are likely to drop in price

      • You have to pay extra to have that enabled on 28 degrees.

        • +1

Only if you don’t clear your bill by end of month

  • Their 9700k is $200 cheaper. Someone make the decision for me :(

    • +4

9900k is 200 numbers bigger, hence why it's $200 dearer

      • +3

Can't fault that logic. 9900k it is

        • Love it. I did the same.

But honestly AMD is better value, even if you're not just gaming. Even just multitasking will be so much better, which is something everyone does. But for just gaming the 9700K has almost the same performance as a 9900K for the same price.

          • @Zazer: I'm a bit of a simpleton, how does the CPU assist with multitasking - I thought that was dependent on the RAM?

            • +1

@Sir Flabo: Simplified, RAM handles how many applications can be open and active at once, e.g too many Chrome tabs. CPU is what actually runs those applications, and Ryzen has more cores and threads which allow it to handle more applications simultaneously. It’s more complicated than that obviously but that’s the gist of it.

  • +1

    9900KFis $10 cheaper

    • ill add it to post, whats the differance?

      • +1

a bit cooler than 9900k and has no integrated graphics

      • No Integrated. Usually not worth the $10 off, disables other features which use the integrated chip as well.

  • These prices are getting so tempting. The lack of 3900x stock is frustration on top of the frustration of the "big wait" we have already endured.

Created this account cause I had an awesome experience with the seller,

I made the purchase using yesterdays 10% discount , overnight that changed to 15% figured no big deal I will contact ebay support and they will credit the difference like every other shop I had this occur with.

Spent an hour with Ebay support who were useless, was going to send the item back using ebay plus return policy and re-purchase.
Contacted the seller and Craig from ComputerAlliance was amazing.

He asked me to put a refund request for the original purchase then put in a new purchase with the discount.
They refunded the return case and as I already have a chip coming I don't have to return anything saving everyone time and money.

So simple yet the robots reading their scripts at ebay couldn't work it out.

Exactly the same situation for me…really hope to get it solved in the same way like you!

    • I'll second the feedback on Craig. The man's a legend and helped me in the past with a refund on a laptop. Very professional & to the point

        May I ask which Craig?
Actually find the other rep on ebay kinda not helpful and complain about our refund request.
