          tiny tech section

Is that one of the collectables ?

  • Just went downstairs to Coles Nth Syd, nothing there for these prices.

    • Check at clearance aisle in coles which is generally near milk aisle

    • The one in Greenwod Plaza?

      • Hey you live near Colebee?

        • Neak Ikea.

Not at Coles Oakleigh in Vic 😔

    • +2

They only eat beer nuts in Oakleigh.

  • Does it cover the constant lightnight head breakage like other cables?
Or is that wear and tear?

    • Ours have been pretty good, only lost a couple over the time; including the one the kitten chewed.

Can't see them online and people can't seem to find them in store, sounds like a great deal.

@vr4indian: Maybe use that phone that you bought the cable for to take a photo of the product/receipt/aisle for the post?

Are these official apple brand cables?

    • Brand : 4 tech

      Short answer no

As if Coles would be selling genuine Apple cables. And as if anyone would be selling genuine Apple cables for $4.

OP really needs to change the title, saying "Apple" cable is straight up misleading when it's just a third-party lightning cable. Same with the Samsung cable in the description, is it USB-C or Micro-USB? Also no evidence of the deal at all.

  • +1

The title of this deal is misleading, they aren’t “Apple Lightning” cables, they’re some other cheap cables, MFi or not.

    “Coles Lightning Charge Cables” perhaps.

    Tough crowd

Apple owners, generally the sensitive types…
Ouch, ouch, sorry, ouch, ah, oh… Stop

    • +1

I could easily understand OPs title in that they weren't genuine Apple (Nothing Apple makes lasts more than cheap knockoffs anyway. May as well be genuine).

  • +1

    not Apple cables, not $4.

Thanks for the post OP. They are probably cheaper as Apple is beginning to go USB-C rather than lightning. It will probably depend on what store has what stock.

    • Don’t think that’s the reason - Apple is expected to again use lightning for their upcoming iPhones this September. Will take 5+ years for these cables to become obsolete.

      • +1

ohhh wouldn't bet on that, it only took them a couple of years to do the changeover to the lightning cable. If the phones don't go this year I think they will go next year. The legacy devices might have them for a while yet.

  • Sorry what? Your link just goes to the Coles online home page for me. Do you have any proof this deal exists? Did you buy one? Post the receipt please?

You list the product code and invite us to call the store which is a decent start, but how did you find out about this deal in the first place?

    • Will share invoice tmrw

  • my store has them on the checkout counters

Unless you are keen in getting the cables immediately
I would suggest to get the Baseus lightning cable for $4.5 (include GST)
At least it feel much solid and stronger than most non-MFi cables

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32998776616.html?spm=a2g0o.p…

    • And prepared to wait 45 to 60 days and found out the items did not arrive! Then go through the pain to ask for refund and wait another 30 days. No thanks.

      • Not sure about others' experiences
But my experiences with aliexpress is quite good so far
None of my orders in the past 2 years have been missed
Most orders arrived home in 2-3 weeks time
1 order received recently (a tablet glass protector) was broken in arrival
and get full refund in 2 days after raising a dispute

    • Thanks kungbernard. This gets good reviews. Think I'll get one as a spare.

  • +2

Found them in Coles Malvern but they are not in the usual section but out front near the top of one of the checkout stations.

    Posted a pic: https://ibb.co/cTWYjzL

    • HALF PRICE! $10 … now $4…..
      - I checked out Coles Vermont South last night and didn't find them in the cable aisle - didn't check the front though.

  • Trash quality

    • Wha it based on experience? Regardless, you can return hassle free at Coles if you are not happy with quality.

  • +4

Well it looks like owe OP an apology. Turns out the deal is real! There were heaps available at Coles Macquarie Centre (Sydney), on top of the gift card rack at the front of the store (not with the rest of the tech stuff).

Here's a picture of one of the display cartons and there were 3 more like this. There were no "special" signs, but the cables come up as $4 each at the register. (No idea about those earphones sorry.)

Here's a photo of my receipt (I don't know why anyone would want this, but a few people asked for one)

They say "12 month warranty" on the back and I intend to keep the box and receipt for when these inevitably fail in a few months time :)

  • Yep these were sitting at numerous checkouts at Coles in Morley WA. Picked up a couple, no doubt iffy quality but handy to plug into a couple docks I have laying about
