    Hi Tipu - On the banner it says min cost $780 but on the disclaimer it says min cost $1560. Which is it?

        Seems like an awesome deal - only problem is I am with Telstra so not sure I qualify. Might give them a call. I pay close to that per month so if I could get the deal it would be a free TV for almost nothing.

          Although it's bit of hassle, but you can try following:

          1) Sign up as a new customer
          2) Get TV
          3) Jump on Telstra Chat and change plan into new month to month plan. If you are lucky, they will waive ETC. You might have to try with different representatives.
          4) Cancel the plan after few days and just pay pro-rate charge(under $10).
          5) Secure new TV for $10

            @Ash-Say: This won't work. JB Hifi add on a Device Repayment Option to your account. I noticed my ETC was small when I got a new phone through them but then it increased later on when they added it to my account.

          I wouldn't call it a free TV. I'd call it a free 60gb +calls/text per month for a year. The TV is absolutely the thing you're paying for. It might seem like a small distinction, but to me it's an important one. It's how advertisers make things sound better than they are.
          Not that this is a bad deal by any stretch of the imagination.

    Philips TV's and monitors just seem to be cheap rebadged jobs (in my eyes).

    The extra $25 a month I am paying vs my current 80GB a month at Optus means that at the end of the year this plan would be $300 more. Reducing the cost of my plan by $100 if you are lucky enough to be able to sell the gift card for the full $400. Meaning I'd only be saving $8 or so per month.

    I'm looking at this compared to the 12 month prepaid Telstra deal for $200 with 200gb(?) Data.

    Sell tv brand new for say, $650… That's ($780 - $650=) $130 for 12 months of unlimited calls/txt and 60gb per month.

    Prepaying/front loading the account with the TV sale money will give you ~10 months "bill free".

      Philips TV is just rebadged Chinese TV. You won't get much resale value. Check review online. This particular model does not have good reviews.

    I signed up for the free TCL tv on the same plan at jb hi fi the other week. Ended up selling the TV on ebay for $650 (althoghh jb were selling it for $595 but RRP is $999 lol). Then got telstra to apply $10 port in credit to reduce my monthly plan from $65 to $55 per month. Divide the TV sale by 12 months means I'm paying $5pm for 12 months on the 60gb data plan. Can work if you do it right. 😬

      Yeah, typically you can put the sim in any 4g modem. Some are supposedly locked, but I'm using a telstra nighthawk with an optus sim.

        200gb 4G plan, paid off for 12.5mths by selling off the ipad pro that was bundled with it.

    Update: TV does not run Android/Android TV. It runs a linux OS called SAPHI.. Basically there is virtually nothing in there equivalent APP store.. Pity, else I would have grabbed this deal.

        I was planning to get this TV and mount it in the front of a small retail shop for promotional purposes. It would play video over and over.. Not sure if the code running on it can be put on repeat.. I might go to the store today to find out.

        Sticking a TV box on the back (like with velcro strips) would work, but would rather avoid it.

          You should be looking for professional displays (also called digital signage) for continuous use unless you plan on replacing the TV every few months. Using TVs for commercial purpose will also void the warranty as well.

      Nope. They have the day pass which is either $5 or $10 a day with a massive 200mb of data a day.

      Vodafone has the best roaming.

    This comment may not get popular, but I'm sometime surprised and concerned when people recommend ideas like changing the plan and cancelling it to get a 58" TV or $500 Gift Card for 'free'.
    I mean this platform must not be abused to promote fraud and theft and moderators must do something about it - potentially delete such comments or even ban such 'deal'and commentor. If you are finding ways of getting an item worth 100s of dollars for 5-10 bucks (and against the intent of the provider) you're not 'bargaining' my friend but 'stealing' - nothing to be proud of or boast about in a sane society.

      There was jb hifi thread full of people who got advantage of this loophole but not everyone was successful.

      More likely this loophole has been closed as mentioned in JB Hifi thread.

      For your reference, Telstra is doing plan change, they could see you got this plan from JB Hifi or Good Guys, the representative agrees to waive early termination fee though they could see you are on 12 months plan. Telstra is willingly allowing you changes so how it is a fraud?

          Telstra can't do anything about it, they set up the deal, they're letting you change plans and then get out of the contract.

          They can see that your original plan was from jbhifi/tgg, and are aware that they are paid sign up bonuses from telstra for originally signing you up.
          If Telstra are allowing the change that is entirely on them.

          Cancelling the plan entirely and paying the 390 etc is really not much different, and entirely per the t&c.

      C'mon people, let's say you visit a store - the cameras weren't working and the owner didn't see - so is the shoplifting in such a event be passed of as using 'loophole'??

      You have to ask yourself, was this a win-win situation? Did any of the other parties - Telstra, JB or TV manufacturer made any reasonable/minimum amount of money in this process? If not, then you know what you did there.

      I love deals and am all for getting highest possible discounts and best value for money - but there is something called morality (sadly appears to be too old school concept now). That's my 2 cents guys, rest it's your life your choice - No offence intended!

        I am fascinated to know how bad these TVs can get..

        I have a 5-6 year old 42inch Sony Bravia(?) Lowest model, bought for 5-600 I think.

        Surely that would be an upgrade?

        Wont affect me though, Im on Telstra prepaid, been too lazy to switch out, and wait for one of these deals to pop up

          Good 1080p still beats poorly implemented/processed 4k.
          HDR is arguably a bigger difference than 1080—>4k.

          The size difference is the biggest impact there though, but even 5yo Sony technology would give poor processing of today a run for its money.

          If you do change, I'd be interested in how you find the change.
