I quite enjoy mine, build quality is pretty solid, knobs and buttons feel sturdy, and the grind is consistent enough for my usages, the weight ground v time is fairly bang on too. Granted I'm more about getting the most out of budget beans than the gourmet experience. It is definitely on the noisier end of the spectrum with a high pitch whine to the grinder though.
I'd buy again in a heartbeat
Can anyone confirm what the quality of these is like? I'm tossing up whether to save some $$ and get a Breville again
You've owned a different Breville before?
Yes, we wore out a Bar Aroma previously, but the replacement we got didn't seem to get the grind quite fine enough. It was the top-of-the-line Breville grinder at the time and we were definitely happy with the first one. I'm now wondering if it's worth upgrading to something much better quality.
Oh OK…. . Well the breville smart grinder would be a very significant step up from the Bar Aroma. I've had it for about 3 years. An absolute no brainier at $150.
You'd need to spend 4x the price to get anything noticeably better.
@ash2000: Cool. I decided I'd spring for one. This is, after all, OzBargain so the idea of spending more is anathema 'round 'ere. ;-)
I’ve had this grinder for a little over a year now. I find it to be an excellent grinder and I’d buy it again.
Will this and a Bambino Plus be better than a Barista Express?
Definitely great value. I had the previous iteration of this. Technically it's still working, but they added finer control of the grind time with the current model. It has lasted me about 5 years.
Loving the new one. I bought it from Myer on a previous deal for $152 delivered.
Can anyone confirm what the quality of these is like? I'm tossing up whether to save some $$ and get a Breville again or else lash out and upgrade to a proper Italian grinder. Something like the Compak K3 would be about 4 times the price of this one, but I'm expecting it would last a lot longer and give better results.
