I actually went and did a booking from Sydney to Gold Coast in July. JetStar really has an idiotic system. I have one 3 year old and one infant, and JetStar would not let me proceed, saying they must travel in pairs!! Obviously I can buy tickets for 2 adults (me & wife) + 2 child (2-6 yo) but then that would be lying and I'm not sure how to explain why my registered 2 yo is actually a 4 month old.
So I went to VirginBlue instead. About $5 dealer per ticket, and it also has the travel time that I prefer (instead of early morning and late night like JetStar).
I had a little go with the booking system last night, I could get from Melbourne to Bangkok for $69 one way without too much trouble. But that $69 one way works out to be around $220 after tax and fuel surcharge. But $440 returned to Bangkok isn't bad.
