Interesting that Nikon (or Officeworks) made a mistake in their promo cards for the purple variety as shown in OP's picture of the display wall.
You can see that the picture shows a different model of camera altogether - the position of the flash light has moved to the far right side of the face in comparison to the other colours of the same model. The purple one on the card is actually the A10 if you look closely - as shown by this link

The display price tickets in OP's picture all say 'A100' with their respective colours. Although almost completely covered by the price ticket in OP's pic, looks like the promo display card also titles the purple one as the "A100".

    Just some trivia I guess.

  • Does anyone actually still use these ordinary digital cameras anymore? My dad still rocks an IXUS 100 or something despite his phone probably having just as good picture-taking abilities.

    • It depends on type of photos you take. Mine are mainly landscape & buildings. Rarely take images of people & no selfies. I find it's the difference between optical & digital zoom. But the phone is always with me. Used to compact on holidays & not interested in more complex & expensive camera for limited use.

Just going on holiday - packed a (free) 21x zoom compact along with taking new mid-range phone. With that camera & app, I can view & take camera photos with the phone (rare time that happens) & upload photos to phone via WiFi. That's handy, but not as handy as taking photo with phone.

Bought a stack of basic Canon cameras from Kmart in deal years ago for around $3.50 each. Gave them out as presents. Far too basic.

      • Fair enough. I always liked having one of those Olympus "tough" cameras on me for SE Asian trips (snorkelling and swimming and boat activities etc). But this camera doesn't fill that brief so…

Those were popular in deals. But remember seal needed checking / replacement, so I didn't bother for my rare use under water.

Have used a few IXUS cameras over many years. Found one tonight - still works & great in low light. Dedicated cameras often have better features & lenses than phones.

My only Nikon was similar one to this. Was a lemon - zoom jammed on first trip in snow covered mountains in Japan. Needed to buy another camera in Japan - was expensive but cheaper than repair in Japan as wouldn't cover under warranty in country that made it! Had to bring back to Australia for warranty repair, but kept failing.

For everyday use, a phone camera is very handy. Only pull out a compact for holidays.

  • How's this compare to P30?
