  • thanks been looking at a ski trip to japan, any advice on which mountain to go to, where to stay, who to book through etc?

this deal looks pretty good to me. It will be even cheaper if you have amex cards.

    • What kind of experience are you after? Lots of aussies getting drunk and partying after the slopes? Something pretty Japanese?

      • im 21 but would like a mix of the nightlife aswell as culture, also trying to do this cheap so luxuryescapse might be a bit too expensive.

        • Niseko is easiest for that but prepare to see minimal Japanese tourists there

        • +1

As mentioned, hirafu in Niseko is a pretty popping place. Big mountain with plenty of runs (for Japan), lots of bars and accommodation.

Another alternative is echoland in Hakuba. Lots of parties and a few different mountains that have shuttles running to them.

Personally I'd book on my own to save the money, but flight Centre seem to be doing flight and accom deals. There are heaps of online places, just give it a Google and your Facebook feed will be full of ads

      • Haha, you can tell this user has been there before. Heaps of aussies in the ski resorts over there.

    • I’m doing Niseko, booking things separately to avoid over charging by any agents or packages etc

  • they have large boot sizes.

I'm a US11 and when I lived in japan and went snowboarding the biggest size boot I could get was a 10.

US 11 or larger shoes are very uncommon in japanese shops.

  • I’m planning to go to hirafu, is it better to rent there? Will it be too hard to carry all the gears from Rhythm to there? Thanks!

    • That’s where I’ll be too, intact the rhythm in niseko actually is in The hirafu village
