Hi guys,
I saw this in my daily bargain emails. The description from the website:

Sony Playstation 3 - 160GB US Version
1 Year Warranty in Australia

  • 160 GB HDD, Wi-Fi, 2 USB ports, HDMI + Bravia Synch output.
  • Dualshock 3 wireless controller.
  • Australian AC Power Cord, AV cable and USB cable included.
  • Free PlayStation Network membership.

This model is a US Version and is therefore locked to US regions for DVD (Region 1), Bluray Movies (Region A) & NTSC playback (compatible with most televisions). If you would like to watch Bluray or DVD Movies, you will need to use US versions of these movies to be compatible with this unit.

new ps3 slim version coming out soon

  • Guess it is a good price.
Those considering getting the more expensive models for the HDD space, I'd recommend upgrading the HDD seperately. Heaps cheaper and you'll end up with more space.

The description needs cleaning in my opinion.

    • I trimmed the description a bit let me know if it looks ok

  • Old model, no local warranty, won't play Australian blurays or dvd's bargain </sarcasm>

    • I bought a PS3 from Hong Kong and it plays Aus Blurays… just sayin'

      • some blu rays that are sold are region free, some have region locking… there's a list of locked blu rays on the net somewhere if you search for it.

      • Not all blurays are region locked, but try tron/Disney or paramount disk.
I had a US ps3 years ago and it it was a pain.
and it's not that cheap I can get the local one with Australian Sony warranty for $94 more or $44 next time they are on sale.

I have tried Tron, bought the 5 disc 3D Tron legacy/tron set from amazon, plays fine on my Australian PS3.
Might have something to do with it being region-free though, not sure. What do you think?

I took home a ps3 from California , 320gb, new model bundled with sports champion for $399, even though shipping is free, it's a pretty average deal, although I do enjoy having a blu ray player for American locked blu rays which can act as a backup ps3:d

Disappointed with the reliability of PS3 in general. We are on our third PS3 in four years.
