3600 + RTX2080 will demolish a 2600 + RX580 in everything. the 2080 is about 110% faster than the 580 meanwhile the 3600 is 25% faster than the 2600x. From budget pc to mid/high range for extra $500, yes please.

    • You see, you aren't that far off about it being a rip-off. That's at no fault of Techfast though, completely on Nvidia's shot pricing.

But then you show a 2600 + 580 build? It's not even comparable in performance to a 3600 and 2080. The 2080'd be over double the performance of the 580 and, iirc, the 3600 had a +15 - 20% on the CPU.

      Lol at your "amazing performance"

      Console equivalent more like it.

      • You're giving consoles a lot of credit here, lol. Tmk their GPUs are placed at about 570 levels and their CPU is Jaguar based, so absolutely rubbled by the 2600.

        • Thought the 580 was basically GPU equivalent of PS4 pro, but yeah, I don't know anything about consoles except they're for babies (or 2 finger typists).

  • Received unit from a previous deal after almost 2 week wait, does not power on.

Have to send it back, even though I am a local as they are not prepared to help on a Saturday.

Wishing I had bought something from a real computer shop instead of a factory.

    • Have you done your due diligence in troubleshooting? Is it plugged in? in the PSU turned on? Not sure how techfast isnt a "real computer shop" when they are.

      • I think he means a physical store. We'll help him as quickly as possible.

Well one of the reasons I purchased was I knew they were in SA, which was appealing for matters like this that may occur.

Lo and behold, a dodgy unit is sent out and instead of a 5 minute fix that I am sure it is, I will have to wait until Monday to arrange a courier to have it sent back, kicked around their workshop for a few days and then couriered back. Turnaround time likely a week.

I will in all likelihood just get a real computer shop to diagnose/repair and if it is a simple fix, I will wear the cost of their incompetence.

Unfortunately these things sometimes happen - when they do it is a little more hassle but it’s those extra steps they cut that allow the other 99.9% to get the better prices they crave.

A cable has probably just come loose in shipping, lets not claim incompetence until we verify the cause of the issue, cmon friend.

We can help trouble shoot here.

        • +1

They install unactivated windows tmk, so most likely something's come loose or has been damaged in shipping.

I was in a similar boat to you with a PC which was DOA (but I'm in Sydney). Luke and the team tried to help me troubleshoot remotely via OzB messaging but even after reseating GPU and RAM and even trying a new GPU, we concluded something was amiss in the motherboard which would require reinstalling everything. Whilst I really appreciated the support and service, I just couldn't keep taking days off work to wait for the courier who couldn't give a time of day they would be coming (only the day) to pick up or drop items off which is ultimately what led me to returning the PC and refunding it. I can feel the frustration you mention especially since they're not too physically far from you but given the pricing these guys offer, I'm not surprised if they aren't able to provide support on a weekend nor are they obligated to - if you want that really convenient always-at-your-call support, this is probably not the brand for you.

          • @jace88: My fault for assuming I guess. I just figured that couriers are expensive…

Maybe try to reseat the ram. Happens to wiggle free in many PCs that are shipped - not just here, from any online seller.

If you can't reseat ram, yeah I agree you should have walked in to a real computer shop rather than ordered anything online, its the worst feeling when you get a new toy and you cant play with the darn thing (srs).

Doesn't turn on meaning the fan doesn't start to spin?
Or the fan spins and there's no "post" on the mobo?
Do you get anything on the screen at all, any sound from the machine?

  • What's a suitable ram for a 3600 ryzen build?

    • 3000mhz cl15 or 3200mhz cl16 will still be your best bets price/performance wise.

The best would be 3600mhz cl16, but that's pricey ram.

  • Hello, not very tech savvy. Is it easy to upgrade this computer, like getting more SSD and a WiFi card?

    • +2

PC are like lego, where there are only 6 or 7 pieces, and there is only one place everything can fit. Expensive pieces yes, but as long as you don't put them in your mouth (ages 12+) you should be fine.

FYI, sata SSDs are easy to install, and have 2 necessary cables to connect - one to the motherboard for data transfer (a sata cable) and one to the power supply (for power obvs). An m.2 SSD is a little more involved, you need to make sure you have enough m.2 slots on the motherboard, and it will use ie switch off 2 sata connectors on the motherboard, so dont buy an m.2 SSD.

Wifi card goes in your pci-e slots under the graphics card. Wait until you have your pc to check you have a spare one. Post an image here or whirlpool and someone will help you out. Easiest wifi is to just buy a USD dongle for 10-20AUD. Your choice of purchase probably depends if you're already opening up the box to insert a new SSD or not. Note the range on dongles is usually less than a proper wifi card which will have an aerial on the back of it.

  • Hi Luke,

My wish list which i hope it becomes a norm in your system deal instead of upgrade option:

    16 GB RAM 3200 MHZ
    600 watts 80+ bronze PSU
    X570 motherboard
    Ryzen 3700X

    • You'd just have to pay more then.

    • I can say that won't be a stock deal as the specs of the RAM, mobo and psu will price others out of the market. Our approach is to lower the cost of entry as far as possible. We will definitely have 3700X systems sooner rather than later though.

  • Just want to double check the brand of the RTX 2080 and the RAM, would it be worth updating the motherboard?

Also if I want to buy the monitor are there any white options?

    • We don't specify brands as we use different brands and models from different suppliers, especially when deals go big like this one. But I can say with 100% honesty that the majority of 2080s will be MSI Ventus, followed by GALAX dual fans, and potentially others mixed in. Stock RAM will be Team, Crucial or G Skill - upgrades I am not sure as yet. We have used Corsair Vengeance LPX kits previously but that may change.

  • I bought 2080 build before.. changed to water cooling.. added nvme 1tb ssd and sold it for lot of profit!

  • Doesn't seem like a bad deal! Just sent my order through, might be a tad late but I don't suppose there's any wiggle room on the 2080ti upgrade pricing?

    • I'd say email them directly to see if you can upgrade. Not going to get a fast reply here on the weekend.

  • Anyone know when this deal ends?

  • just a quick question, is this worth buying this just to play for GTA V online and Pubg ?

    • Definitely would run both of these games extremely well

  • I'm just wondering about the PSU, I understand that with techfast you don't get to pick the brand. However I'm concerned that it may just be a generic no name PSU. Anyone have an info about this.

    • It is no name, "Allied"
      So probably worth replacing soon

  • Hi @Luketechfast

Interested in the 3600 deal, but struggling on the upgrade from a 350m to 450m. Does the 350m supplied support 3200 MHz ram?

  • This seems to come extremely close price wise to the 3600+5700XT deal, any suggestions which is the better system if all other upgrade options were changed to the same?
