  • anyone used these, and how did they go with them?

    • +1

Yes, I have one and they are excellent. On Xmas day I usually have 3-4 joints of meat across 2 Weber BBQ's. Beef, Lamb and Pork and if you put your faith in the probe you will have perfectly cooked, juicy meat every time. I swear by them and this is a good price.

    • I've got the 6X, works a treat.

    • I agree they are excellent- very easy to use. Customer service is excellent too. The oz bargain rep is very easy to deal with.

    • ive got the smaller one with two probes, very happy with it.

  • I’ve got one of these.

It works well. I’ve got four probes but have never used more than one, really. The iOS app is basic but you can set a target temp for each probe and the app alarms you once the target temp has been reached(connected to thermometer via Bluetooth). The alarm sound is hideous and can’t be changed but there’s worse things in life. The app comes with a list of suggested target temps for different meats, roasts etc.

Key thing of course is to get the tip of the probe into the right spot or your readings will be off.

I’d buy it again and it’s much cheaper than the branded competition (Weber etc).

    • The alarm sound is hideous and can’t be changed

Seriously, this is the absolute worst thing about these units. Especially when you first plug it in while you're setting up your bbq, and it defaults to the last used preset and alarms because it's 3 degrees outside at 4 in the morning while you're putting a brisket in the Weber.
And then it alarms when your phone goes out of bluetooth range. And then it alarms when you lift the lid on the bbq to wrap your brisket.

Oh one other thing. It would be nice if the graph didn't randomly reset itself or wipe when it loses bluetooth connection, and also if you could export the graph would be handy. But yeah this thing is excellently priced against similarly spec'ed competition.

  • Hey OP any specials on the IRF-4s? I bought one at the last sale as a trial and am definitely happy with it. Great big screen/unit and 4 probes are great. If you’ve got a good deal on it again I’ll buy another immediately

    • Hi,$58.49 for irf-4s is the lowest price we offer. Now price goes back to $89.99.
Please make offer to following link at $75 if you want it.

Then i will accept your offer.
      Thank you.

  • Looking for a deal on the 6xs

  • Great stuff, thanks OP! Been looking at one for ages.. pulled the trigger to replace my old analogue Bunning's special.

  • I have a normal (ie non bluetooth) wireless thermometer which hsa a fairly decent range. Would I be right in saying the range of a bluetooth thermometer would be much smaller. Keen to know as I would only use these for smoking meat which, for obvious reasons is all done outside in the garden.

    • ..

    • What wireless tech does it use?

      • +1

Low freq in the 400MHz range rather than Bluetooth 2400MHz. Same system that wireless energy monitors use.

If your BBQ is more than 10m though walls to where you intend to monitor the cooking temperature the Bluetooth version will not give reliable connection.

The IRF-2SA will work for a much longer distance to the receiver unit.

        It is $42. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BIG-SALES-/323417671429

        • Thanks, this is what I wanted to know. For overnight cooks (and most others), it will be over 10m and through walls so no Bluetooth for me.

        • And what kind of receiver does it use for monitoring?
Bluetooth is pretty hit and miss for me, though the devices they'll connect to usually make it preferred

  • +1

OP, it's only $54.39 with the ebay code "BLUE5"
