  • 3TB doesn't seem like much for plex.

        • What does this service DO…?

Hmm. Paying 24months upfront. Not sure if I'd have that much trust.

  • You can get a Hetzner Box which has 20TB of bandwidth for 2.49 euro, however, if you were getting anywhere close to that amount of bandwidth your plex server's metadata would exceed what that tier has in terms of local storage.

That service actually looks pretty decent. Based on what I'm paying now at Hetzner I could get some decent improvements by swapping over.

Only downside is that I wish there were server's based closer to home.

How do you find streaming movies from that site?
    i.e. have you tried 4k/REMUX's?

    • How much storage?
      Also, can you mount GDrive?

      • That 2.49 tier only has 20gb of disk space, so as a minimum you'd want the 8.9 euro/m which'd give you 80gb of disk space, but you can upgrade as your plex library grows. It all depends what you're using it for and how much you actually want to store. I know of someone who has 2 Hetzner servers, 1 for streaming plex, and the other for downloading. That makes sense especially if you're transcoding/downloading a lot simultaneously and smashing the CPU, plus if you fill-up the download server's disk space it won't affect streaming.

Hetzner is pretty straightforward to set up, select your box/location/OS and you're set. Your only interaction through it is via SSH. I hadn't used that too much prior to getting the server, but it's straight forward to use if you've ever used linux before.

So yes, you can use RClone to mount TDrive/GDrive if you're comfortable using SSH.

You can buy additional volumes though which are cheaper than upgrading your tier if you need disk space. But to get close to the space that ultraseedbox offers you're looking at a decent amount of money. The jump from 100GB (4 euro) to 300GB (12 euro) is substantial when you're basically doubling it to AUD. In saying that though, there's no reason you couldn't get the 2.49 box, grab a 300GB volume to attach to it for 12 euro which should allow you to have sufficient disk space to download/process/upload and hold the plex metadata.

But after all of that, it might just be easier using ultraseedbox. I've never seen them before but they definitely seem very reasonable.

If you're really serious about it you could just grab a dedicated from Hetzner too.

        • Some providers prevent Plex from properly mounting GDrive so they get more $$ by offering storage addons (hence my question).

          • @GaelicAU: Really? That's pretty crap. I've never heard about that issue.

Nah, definitely no issues with Hetzner and reclone gdrive mounts

    • Havn't used extensively to be honest, usually d/load. I'll give it a go and let you know… although i don't have a 4k TV.

    €30 PER YEAR seedbox

    200GB space, 2TB/mo BW

I've found these guys were the cheapest for those looking for a small seedbox. Service has been working pretty well.

  • Thanks grabbed one as an upgrade from my Jaguar which was due for renewal at roughly 65 for 3 months. 325 for 24 months is a lot better, plus 3 times the storage.

  • well not anymore Oh I'm an idiot its near the top of the banner: https://my.ultraseedbox.com/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=0 …..anyone heard of feralhosting?

I guess you can always just buy your own VPS or dedicated server or even colocate your own and then setup your own seedbox….
