Amex online travel is 1) more expensive than almost all other competitors ( with this 20% discount they may be on-par with some known overpriced provider such as Flightcentre). 2) Pretty useless and terrible customer service - I have enjoyed very good customer serivice from their card division - one of the best in its class - but their travel service is in a different world ( and they are surprisingly Oz based) - rude, not understandig, lack of knowledge ( Yes, I had to go through the then financial services ombudsman to force them to sort something out). 3) their offers of airlines or hotels are rather limited.
I have to say that just recently I found an overseas hotel for the same (discounted) price as on Booking.com, but it was definitely a surprise, cos I've never found anything else that was well-priced on American Express Travel!
It said flights are excluded. Anyone has tried?
A bit late, but commenting for posterity. Made a flight booking on the 27th Aug and got an email immediately stating I used the offer. Just received the $50 credit 7 days later.
