  • Managed to get one. Thanks for the tips :-)

    • Which tip ? I have tried many tips no luck :))

      • Worked when I had the confirm and pay button screen in front of me and credit card as my payment method. Pretty much spammed the confirm and pay button until it went through

        • +1

Thanks, I think thats the issue for me as I gave it set on PayPal
Will try credit card this time ,

  • +1

Missed again. * This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired. *

    • I'm on that screen now as well, with no option to purchase again…

  • +2

I have NBN, I had it in my cart last two hours and cannot buy it.

    • The little one just restarted the pc, checkout page gone :)))
Wouldn’t have been able to get it anyway… happy that already canceled my Plus membership

      • Last 5 mins, go to history to get it back, see my comment

  • GGGone!!! Geez totally ozbargained!

  • now what to do with it. "Have one to sell? Sell it yourself"? lol

  • I get to the confirm and Pay step. It will be the last hour to get it.

  • +1

    Finally, got the bastard!!

  • +1

I got a "Thanks your order was placed" but no email and not showing up in purchase history, does it take a while?

    • +1

No you got duped like i did.

      • Lucky it stayed in my cart and I got one at 4pm

  • I used CC and 5 open windows with furious clicking's to annoy my colleagues.

I got the whole "your order was placed" one after the other.

Dubious, as this appeared last hour with no actual purchase history, I see success!

1x Order and I got an email too :)

Good luck to the rest of you.

  • +2

This time, it said the seller has updated the description, and now I'm off the checkout screen with no purchase button:

This item isn't available in the requested quantity. It may have been purchased already, or the listing has expired.

I guess I'm out of the game now (not setup for 16:00.

    • Same thing happened to me.

    • Sympathies, that sucks and I know if be frustrated if it happened to me

    • +1

Have you tried to retrieve the checkout page by going to History of your browser, and search for "Checkout", click the latest order page by ebay ? Should look like this, you can check this is the correct link by pointing at it and see the bottom left conner for the explicit link, which is something like this

If you get back the checkout page with your address and details, apply the code at the end again and should be good to go at 4pm.

If otherwise, nothing like what I described, then I am sorry :/

      • +1

Thanks! Followed your advice and finally got one at 4pm!

  • Giving up now.
Good luck to everyone still trying

  • I got confirmation email. Seems I got it?

    • +1

Time to remove the neg then

  • If I leave it in 'Confirm & Pay' until 4PM it should not expire? Voucher is applied, showing $79.

    • You will be fine (it will work)

    • +1

leave it and spam it at 3:59:00
Better yet, copy the URL session ID and open multiple windows and cycle through them.

      • +1

Thank you, will try my luck at 4PM :)

        • +1

make sure you arent paying with paypal. this is the way i just got one. first time and i got it

        • Good luck! And yes, pre-fill CC info and use that. Failed the first few times with PayPal likely to longer authentication

    • Pay with credit card instead of Paypal, will be faster I reckon

      • Yes, just changed payment method to CC.

    • Correct. Your only chance of getting it is doing it this way.

I also changed the payment method to credit card (prefill). This has been suggested by others, and I changed at 3pm after many unsuccessful attempts with PayPal and finally secured it.

      • Not your only chance - I got one with PayPal on my second try (hour that is). But YMMV.
Be damn sure your clock is in sync so you know exactly when the hour is.

        • My reference to "only chance" was already having it in the cart ready to go.

I can't be certain credit card v PayPal has any difference despite my success with CC. I thought credit card transactions were processed by PayPal anyway?

What we can be certain about is luck is plays a major role!

    • Thanks everyone for suggestions!

      • Changed payment to CC and pre filled
      • Copied URL and opened 4 Chrome windows side by side
      • +1

Make sure they are overlapped as such they won't hide the button when out of focus.

Do some test runs and build up that dexterity!

        • All good. I wonder if I should click one after the other without waiting for previous one to load?

      • Did you get it?

        • Thanks for tip raspudala. Got mine the last minute on 4 PC chrome tabs after 4th time on my phone.

  • +3

What the… six times in six hours failed and this time the purchase screen expired. No chance to get it next hour now. Spewin'.

    • I got the same thing! Why the (profanity) did the purchase screen expire now?

      • +2

I answer with your user name.

        What a terrible experience.

  • Got one. Thanks OP. What a ridiculous sale though… Feel sorry for everyone missing out :( Didnt think I would get one to be honest. I did use Credit Card this time around and seemed to be a lot quicker.

  • Geez that was like 5 seconds, faster than airpods :/

  • +3

F#%k. Missed again. It would be cheaper for my employer to just give me the $190 than me wasting all this time trying to buy one… Just think of the reduction in GDP that eBay causes with this kind of thing.

    • I think you are spot on. Those on high hourly rates would indeed burn the $190 saving.

  • make sure you dont select paypal as payment option. have the item in your cart and credit card ready to pay.

  • seems like paying directly with CC works. on my first attempt used PayPal, failed. 2nd CC worked

  • I had one in my cart and had CC details pre-loaded along with promo code. Hit the button to confirm the order at 3:00:01 and still missed out… Alto tried to process t manually in the past…

Question: Has anyone manage to grab one with it in the cart from the previous hour or do you need to go through the process manually each time to checkout?

    • Finally got one after 3 hours of trying. The idea is to get to the payment page and fill in your credit card details and leave the page the next hour. And exactly at hour lke 03:00pm need to click place order.

    • Copy the URL session ID and open multiple windows and cycle through them quickly.

Keep CC and Code applied in the Session ID

    • Just got one, they are going in 15 seconds. You need to be clicking that buy button on the hour.

    • Question: Has anyone manage to grab one with it in the cart from the previous hour or do you need to go through the process manually each time to checkout?

Yes, you must keep clicking the submit button. I had to refresh 5 times between 3.00.01 and 3.00.15 before securing one.

    • "I had one in my cart and had CC details pre-loaded along with promo code. Hit the button to confirm the order at 3:00:01 "

this is how i got mine

    • Thanks all I see my cart is also now cleared and my old session ID no longer works so I guess I have no chance getting it on the last 4pm run… thanks for the replies any way…

  • mine is in the confirm and pay page now, miss out last 2 hours, try my luck again at 4

  • These get sold within 20 sec. timing is important

  • +1

What a joke.. I got the order successful screen and then it disappeared, what's worst is that my cart has vanished so there is no chance of trying again at 4pm.

    • +2

My cart is now empty as well so no chance getting it on the last 4pm run :-(

      • +2

        Same.

        • +1

Perhaps you can have a go on this ? No harm trying.

          • @JadaJ: Thanks JadaJ, tried that but unfortunately did not work for me… Little Annoyed Ebay Plus allow such specials without pushing the seller to have enough stock… as others have said we are essentially paying to gamble with eBay Plus promotions like this… such a shame… ow well, congrats to those that managed to get the item wish more stock was around for the rest of the OZB members ;-)

    • +2

      same … such BS.

  • Finally got it after trying the last couple hours. Previous times I got confirmation message but the order didn't go through.

This time had 3 open windows clicking the confirm order button. 2 of them went through with fake confirmation message at 2:58pm, 3rd one went through and appears in my purchases.

  • This is a total scam, if they are all sold out within a few seconds after each drop that's ridiculous.

Here I was thinking bait advertising was illegal in this country?

The 1 per person is obviously not being enforced here either. It's this kind of thing that makes me want to quit ebay plus.

The other thing ebay can do is limit the offer to those who have been a member longer than 6 months for example, to prevent those scamming the system just so they can resell it later.

    • I signed up specifically today just for this deal, I won't be reselling it.

I think the real issue is the limit of 100 qty, as it's super unrealistic to be able to obtain one.

You have a 1/100 chance with likely 1,000 other people trying, so that's a 0.001% chance.

      • +2

Umm… if there are 1000 other people trying, you have a 10% chance…

        • nope 0.001% chance seems about right as its mostly sold out the second the 100 are on sale.

          • +3

@HunterxHunter9000: My issue is with the assumption of 1000 people trying, and the math of getting from there to 0.001%…

For 0.001% to be correct, there would need to be 10,000,000 trying. Not sure half of Australia is that keen on a 1TB SSD drive from Bing Lee eBay.

        • +2

I think you're right. Probability isn't my strong suit haha.

    • I agree with you too it doesn't seem fair.

  • +1

Can only imagine what a bummer it would be if Bing Lee admitted there was a price error.

    • +2

Ebay is known for making these kinds of deals so its not a price error. Its a marketing tactic to get people to sign up for ebay plus.

      • +3

This was the deal that got me to sign up finally after months. It's left a bitter taste in my mouth so I will be cancelling the subscription and for the foreseeable future not returning.

  • +6

Can confirm I have spat the dummy and will be cancelling my eBay plus. I still have PTSD from Catch of the Day. I don't need this again.

    • +2

Yeah was trying all day and at 3 i had everythign ready to press confirm then the message comes up saying that the listing has changed which means i need to add the product to my cart again so i missed out. Amazon deals are definatly more customer driven then this ebay plus tactic.

      • +1

Well I have similar message (from reviewing your cart to seller has updated the listing) while spamming the pay button ignoring the whatever the message is and eventually got it through.

If your session id is not expired, then you can retrieve your checkout page by this method.

      • +2

I have to say congratulations to all the winners in this deal, but I also cancelled my eBay plus as it reminded me that I don't need to pay to gamble on this sort of stunt.

    • +3

ya, you are right, i am cancelling the ebay plus too, it just sounds too good to be true and within seconds its gone.

      • Don't take this as me defending eBay - I agree these 20 second sales are a frustrating way to engage with members (more akin to catch of the day in their earlier years) but these events shouldn't be the driver to Plus membership. It's more of a perk if you happen to be a member and want to give it a crack.

Whether there's value in Plus membership more generally, though, I'm not sure.

The Plus 'free shipping' is limited to few items and most sales are accessible whether you're a Plus member or not.

Not sure if I'll join again when my membership expires (I think next month).

    • Joining you there.

  • +1

Was just checking the purchase history, you got to click on buy it now and finish the transaction with in 22 seconds.
    what a waste of time

  • +2

Managed to get one. Also managed to get one of the AirPods.

I do hate this style of deal, but if they were to release 1000 units, I'm sure they'd all be gone in 1 minute.

    • +4

If they were gone in a minute instead of 8x 5 seconds everyone could just get on with their day…

      • yeah then we'd only have to read the "this is rediculous, how can you add and checkout faster than x amount of seconds, I'm cancelling my eBay Plus membership" every hour lol.
It's a game, if y'all don't want to play then don't. I do think though that 1000 units at once would be better, granted they actually link us to the product to start with!

  • -1

603 Sold? That means only 97 left??

  • +2

For those who have close their checkout window because of updated listing issue, try to get it back by searching through your browser History and for "Checkout". It should look like this, you can check this is the correct link by pointing at it and see the bottom left conner for the explicit link, which is something like this.

If you get back the checkout page with your address and details, apply the code at the end again and should be good to go at 4pm. I am not sure this works for those whose session ID is expired.

    • +1

Doesn't work for those of us unfortunate enough to have the session ID expired.

      • +2

I see. Sorry to hear that mate :/

    • +1

thanks mate used this method to grab one.

    • Could also try Ctrl+Shift+T which reopens closed tabs in the order you closed them.

  • Here we go again
