From the official Tool Band website:

NEWS YOU’VE BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING FOR:
TOOL’S “FEAR INOCULUM” ARRIVES AUG. 30 VIA RCA RECORDS

Here’s part of the press release in case you missed it on the Times Square Digital Billboard, sky-writing and inflatable blimp advertising over most major cities, smoke signals from the College of Cardinals in Rome, select augmented reality glasses, spirit boards and cryptically encoded in agriglyphs scattered over the beautiful English countryside:

“Continuing their affinity for pushing the boundaries of physical packaging, the GRAMMY Award® winning outfit has created a deluxe, limited-edition CD version of Fear Inoculum. The collectible offering, which was conceived by and directed by Adam Jones, features a 4” HD rechargeable screen with exclusive video footage, charging cable, 2 watt speaker, a 36-page booklet and a digital download card. Pre-orders for both the special package and digital downloads are available NOW. The 85-minute collection was produced by TOOL, with Joe Barresi engineering and mixing the release. Barresi also worked with the band on 10,000 Days.” (NOTE: Even Buddhist monks wearing YOLO tee shirts know that!)

likewise, i have plenty of bluray discs and no player.

$67.86 delivered. Anyone here bought from this store before?

Someone above mentioned they had a poor experience when they were known as another name…I’d recommend amazon USA

  • +1

FYI the artist responsible for the tool artwork Alex Grey was selling these hand signed last night on his online webstore. Sold out very quick, my mate was lucky enough to score one!!

  • Yes.

    • As mentioned further below, no longer available from Amazon Australia either.

Now unavailable on the Amazon US store.
Switched to the AU store and still available for $75.69

    • glad i pre-ordered when i did. their AU store's conversion rate isn't great

      • How much did you get it for? I bought from Amazon US only because at the time it wasn't even on the AU site, and after all the conversions, tax and shipping it came to AUD $75.something something so seems alright to me.

        • don't know yet (i also bought 2 copies). they only bill your card when it ships (or just slightly before).
from past experience, i get better rates from my card providers i.e. 28 degrees or bankwest platinum mastercard.

same with paypal's currency conversion. even when i used a card that charged intl transaction fees, most of the time i'd still come out ahead by just under a dollar.

so unless the AUD rapidly nose-dives, you will usually come out ahead letting your card provider set the conversion rate

      • Same, but I did a group buy so paid ~$70ea shipped, so save a bit buying from US. The extra wait is no biggie either cos spotify.

  • It's that expensive and comes with a MP3 download code damn

I love Tool and I'm a massive Danny Carey fan, such an amazing drummer but I really hope this album isn't full of looping filler like previous albums and just gets down to business! It's been awesome to finally have them on Spotify, been listening to Opiate, Undertow and Ænima like a boss!

  • Damn, I should have just bought, no thought!

    • +2

was going to suggest amazon AU but that's not available now either. bugger for you.

      WOWHD???

      • +1

I just bought it from WowHD. Fingers crossed that that is the actual price and it doesn't turn out that it was supposed to be $140 all along.

        • "We hope to fill every pre-order for Tool’s Fear Inoculum. However, there is a very high demand for this album, and we may not be able to fulfill each order. We will share an update with additional information as the release date approaches, and we apologize for any inconvenience."

Written on WowHD Facebook page :(

          • @ultimategrandson: bugger. I wonder if that means you might just get it late, or you might not get it at all?

            • @watts: The kept taking orders long after all the other places stopped. No idea. Considering the anticipation for the album, if they already sold out completely, there's going to be a lot of annoyed fans.

Hey fellow bargainers, just wanted to chime in on this one and say that www.deepdiscount.com is also an option. My credit card just got charged now - $77.49 AUD, including GST and postage. Hopefully they honour the deal and can actually send product. I'm not sure why they wouldn't but with everyone else seemingly OOS…let's see how it goes.

    • Anyone got comments on deepdiscount.com authententicity?

      • +1

Don't think they sell tents, neither real nor fake.

      • Well, I last bought from them around ten years ago so they're still going, obviously (and their website says they've been operating since 2001). They were often a cheaper option than Amazon for things like CDs and DVDs. Seems like they've expanded their product range to stay alive.

  • For those who were wondering when the Amazon pre-orders might ship ie: will it ship a little early to get it to buyers around the released date, the answer is - no. At least in my case. I just got an estimated arrival date of "Sep 16 - Sep 18". Oh well. Streaming will suffice until then.

    • That's really pushing the limits of they said at order. 10-12 days from recollection?.

No update for my order yet. I opted for expedited shipping so hopefully a little quicker, but doubt I'll get it in time for the TOOL party we have planned for 7th Sept :(

So..If I want the highest quality without the CD in hand what's the best option?

I've got spotify which tops out at 320kbps. Maybe a Tidal trial membership?

(sure I probably can't hear the difference, but I don't want to be left wondering)

      • Yeah maybe try Tidal 'HiFi' (Tidal 'Premium' is their regular service despite the name)

  • Just to note to anyone thinking of changing the shipping speed. Don't bother trying.

I tried to change from Expedited to Priority but system told me the item can't ship to Australia. weird. Amazon support couldn't really explain why.

  • got arrival date(s) at last:

    Estimated arrival date: September 16, 2019 - September 18, 2019

    • Finally got my ETA too. Arriving Sep 11 - Sep 16 (expedited shipping).

In both cases Amazon are a couple of days past the average indicated when ordering.

Standard 10-12 business days (should be 12th to 16th. Actual ETA 16th to 18th)
Expedited 7-10 business days (should be 9th to 12th. Actual ETA 11th to 16th)

I'm really hoping it's one of those amazon orders that arrives well before the ETA. I had some orders turn up impossibly quick.

Did anyone else get a “sorry, we ran out?” Email from jbhifi today?

    Very unhappy.

  • For anyone who bought from WowHD see their FB post: https://www.facebook.com/WOWHD/

Suggests they're fulfilling orders although, anyone that ordered multiple copies may be disappointed.

  • are they likely to release a their new album for $25 at jb hifi ? not interested in their deluxe versions.

    • Apparently no according to my local JB HIFI

  • Got an email from Amazon AU today:
    TOOL "FEAR INOCULUM"
        Estimated arrival date: 01/10/2019 - 07/11/2019

    Ridiculous.

    • Weird. Mine told me I should receive it on September 16

    • 9th September for me. :)

  • For those that didn't pre-order, where do we get it now?

Amazon AU doesnt have it, Amazon US is $169, sanity $139.

    • +1

As long as you’re willing to wait I’m sure once all the preorders are taken care of it’ll become available again. And currently the sellers on Amazon US are obviously just maximising profit because of the popularity of it. Once Amazon themselves get more stock I’m sure prices will even out.

    • +1

YouTube. They're released their whole album on their channel. Run up chrome or firefox, grab an add-in and download the songs for offline use.
That'll tie you over until the album hits JBHIFI.

      • I've been listening to it already. I want the deluxe version though. Add to my collection 😁

      • Why not download it from a torrent site instead so you can listen to it in CD quality?.

        • Maybe i have, but i still want the deluxe cd

        • opppsssss… Not that we advocate.

Besides, Haven't the ISP's blocked all the good ones?

  • +4

    I've got mine!!!!

    • Still waiting here…

  • Mine arrived today!

  • I ordered mine from WOWHD a couple days before their listing disappeared - they appear to be based in the US… Has anyone who ordered from them gotten theirs yet?

    • OK it arrived fine, am quite happy I didn't spend over $100AUD for this, it's not exactly worth that… it is pretty amazing though.

  • Woot!! Got mine =D

  • I really wish I ordered this when I saw this posted, are Aus sellers getting new stock?
I know Tool released more stock via there website but that seems to be gone too

  • My first reaction is: Slightly disappointed. The album in general needs more time to sink in obviously, but it wasn't at all memorable after the first listen. Also I don't really 'get' the video part of the package. The screen is pretty bad, and the speaker is terrible (obviously).

Don't get me wrong it's a very nice collectable to have, but if you're thinking about going through eBay and paying through the nose to get one, give it a 2nd thought.

    • Does the physical come with a download code for the other tracks? Why didn’t they release a double album kind of stupid.

      • +1

Yes it comes with a digital code for the whole album with bonus tracks. TBH the bonus tracks aren't necessarily .. they're 'segue' tracks and one of them is just noodling on a formant filtered synth for 2 minutes. Though one of them is kind of a mini droney remix (presumably by Lustmord) of the title track, so that's kinda cool but it's only about 3 minutes something..

    • The screen has about the worst off axis viewing I've ever seen.

The album gets better with each listen, and better the louder you play it too.

  • i would've received mine today but thanks to Fastway Couriers just leaving the parcel outside my door, some thieving (profanity) took it
