Sanyo 12MP Digital Camera New from Target $21.14 Stock

830

hey guys, i went to my local Target today and happened to come across this camera, Sanyo 12mp model VPC-S1275, couldn't believe the price,, for comparison my local Aldi has 2 digital cameras which are kind of similar, both on clearance, the cheaper one is still on sale for $59, you could buy 3 of these Sanyos for the price of 1 Aldi Medion/Traveller camera(if you can find 3!)
This is not in their current stocktake catalogue but i'm assuming it ends same date june 29th, never came across a low price like this for a new camera which wasn't a refurb/factory second/damaged/display demo/missing parts etc

ps when voting you are voting on the deal itself, not if you can find it at your local store! stock very limited, i managed to get the last one at my local, can't guarantee everyone in Aus can get it so i'll say may not be nationwide, and keep in mind i'm not a Target rep, just a consumer

also, they had 2 other cameras, one cheapie Vivicam 5mp for around $20 and a RCA that only does 640x480 video clips for $16.88, my phone does better so i gave that a miss but you may find it helpful

some details;

-12 megapixels
-ISO 3200
-3X optical zoom
-2.7" lcd monitor
-face and smile detection
-frame composite

also, the photo of the camera & receipt was taken by this camera to give you some idea of the quality(3mp best quality)

Great deal, these will surely be a rarity but awesome first post and thanks for sharing.

EDIT: Store appears to be Target Leichhardt Marketown. Since we have an SKU you could call around before dropping by your local store too.

    • Thank you for mentioning the "local" Target being Leichardt (had to google the phone number on the receipt)-saves one place to call around

  • no problem cyssero, Ozb has given me great deals, so it's time to share the luv around…

  • wow that a steal not a bargain :D

I am a big believer that these one off, hard to find golden nugget deals are great. Who cares if there are only a few around, but letting others know, means another person from the OzBargain community might score a great deal, rather than some schmo off the street, who was probably happy to pay $100 for it.

    Big + vote from me.

Those who went on the search for the $2 ladder from Kmart (you already knew your chances were slim) would surely agree.

      wholeheartedly agree

      lol I searched hahah. +1

  • Only wish i knew sooner i was near a target store dam it :(

    Great deal.

Technically by the receipt you paid $21.15

You should have used eftpos to save the 1 cent.

    • maybe i should go and ask for a 1 cent refund, er, 1 cent store credit…..now what to buy…lol!
i paid $21.15 but it rings up as $21.14, target has weird price tags, maybe they want to put some loose change in your pockets so you can give some of it to the salvos just outside the entrance…not a bad idea!

    • damn…u are a Tight bottom….lol

        LOL nice edit.

This would be a good camera to keep in the car for emergencies - i.e. if you got into an accident and needed a few shots for insurance purposes. I'm always reluctant to leave my ~$180 camera in the car, but this one would be a no brainer in the glovebox.

Your mobile phone doesn't have a camera?

      • +5

        I wish, it doesn't even have a colour screen. It's a Nokia 8310 from 2002.

        • +4

Man that was the most awesomest phone of 2002! Everyone was like ooh, white backlight :)

        • +2

Damn straight. Plus it had FM radio and WAP browser.

        • @uraha man that was hilarious, but sad at the same time coz my 8310 was stolen back in 2002 :(

Well in any case, phones with cameras are a bit gimmicky IMO. Besides, even when you look at phones currently on the market, not all of them have cameras.

        • Well, I still have one. =) But never knew how to use the internet in b/w. XD

I am getting in the habit of checking OzBargain on my phone before I walk out of any store, you just never know…

  • Does this camera use AA batteries or a rechargeable Li-ion?

    • from dcviews.com:
"The initial model VPC-S1275 is on two AA batteries, which VPC-E1090 is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery, which has sufficient Energy for up to 220 shots it."

      so yes :3

      -baka

      • does your name mean stupid cat?

        • Yeah crazy japanese name. I think the name baka suits you in that comment…:P (joke)

I reckon this would also be the perfect birthday present for anyone really. Let them think you've spent $100 on their gift. If no one is the wiser, who cares?

  • Called them, they said its clearance stock. Going to be extremely hard to get one, if there is one.
    Victoria supposedly doesn't have it.

  • damn it bought the 15 dollar one (10+shipping) from 1 day sales for the 2mp one for my kid… ahh well, guess i probably wouldnt have been able to find any of these anyway!
meh sounds like this is one of those "limited deals" which is more like a compition anyway.

Checked with head office. No NSW target stores have this in stock.

    • Save me a trip to local target which is 15 kms away.

    • Was just about to ring my 2 local stores. Thanks for saving me the effort of talking to someone who probably has no idea anyway. Head office eh? I didn't think of that! :)

No stock in any target in SA…

Here is a brief review and specs sheet

    http://www.dcviews.com/press/sanyo-s1275.htm
    http://www.letsgodigital.org/en/camera/specification/2174/sh…

Please note this takes 2 x AA batteries… Which I personally find it inconvenient to be carrying batteries and they dont seem to last too long..
There maybe high capacity rechargeable AA batteries though…

Dont know how good this camera is… But a 12mp Sanyo for $21 is a Steal to the power of 10!

    Good post OP

    • If you get some good rechargeable batteries you might end up with 5400mhA which is more then "custom" batteries.

      • +1

If it's running on 3V (2.4V for NiMH) then I don't think you can add 2700+2700 to get 5400. Probably each one is running at 2700 so you only get 2700 mah in total.

        • -1

i think you probably can add them to get 5400mah

        • -1

It will be 2700mAh for each, running at a higher voltage overall. If you say 2 batteries (1.2v, 2700) add to get 2.4v with 5400, you have 4x the power of one battery.

        • +1

Yeah, I checked if adding batteries in series, the ampage stays the same. If you would put the batteries in parallel the amps would double.

    awesome score.

combine it with these batteries and your laughing (whilst taking photos)

  • none at Hoppers Crossing clearance store.

    • "I guess you couldn't afford Target products like people that earn money rofl! Oh well, at least theres a povvo market for every losers (lack of) budget."

Pretty much her words from another threads comment btw.

I work at sound in Target and I know that when an item price ends in a 4, as opposed to a 9 or 0, it means that it is being reduced due to a trivial reason and reduced at the hardgoods manager's discretion. Therefore it shouldn't be at any other Target store and if it is, probably not that price.

    Good find tho!

ps. If an item at Target is on clearance, it will end in a '6', but prices between stores will vary, so please be nice and not badger us that you saw it cheaper at another store and demand a price match, because markdowns are at a manager's discretion too.

    • There is a % off cameras at the moment, $21.14 is not regular price. Also, had it been price overridden, it would show it on the reciept.

But yea, good luck finding anymore of these

      • +2

You're right, Rache. This camera isn't regular price, it isn't 15% off on promotion, it isn't overwritten. But geez, I'm RF gunning as many cameras in my shift tomorrow to find a post-stocktake steal. You never quite know why an item will end in .14 unless you are the manager. It's just right place right time I guess.

I might like to mention, at the moment, A LOT of Target stock in Homewares and Sound is 50-95% off after the stocktake count. A LOT of stuff like electricals, iPod docks, stereos, DVD players, furniture and cookingware has been in the stock reserve for ages and has depreciated beyond reason.

The other day I found stereo systems costing $4.86 with a retail of $119.00 when first sold.

        • so, did you buy it? with staff discount it would be even cheaper!
and thanks for the info, that would explain why target has weird price tags, also the manager probably wants to look like the store is competitive with online shops as well, although i'm positive the manager leaves the odd bargain item like this camera to reward people who get out from behind their computer and go to the store and have a look around

        • which target do u work at
my local target is humongous (2 floors!) but has like no business….

  • Did anyone have any luck? Or was this a one off?

Called my local store, but no luck.
