  • It have a problem with Main Camera Auto focus on close items like text or from screen. So avoid it if you can. And if you need repair out of warranty The service centre charge you $50 just to quote and if you decline there quote they will charge extra $50 for send it back to there Pick up Service centre.

    • The phone generally reviews quite well and at this price it's very hard to beat.

I don't think it's worth avoiding just because you can't take photos of text or other screens up close. Who even does that anyway?

      • +3

Anyone who digitises their tax invoices/receipts for one.

        • How crisp do you need an invoice to be?

          • +1

@boretentsu: Not sure if that's sarcasm, because I'd say as crisp as possible. Haha.

        • If it is already on a screen, then either save the file or take a screenshot.
But taking a photo of a screen will just mess with the camera's metering.

          • @lomie: Talking paper here, myself.

            • @BradH13: jogibains is talking about taking photos of another device's screen.

              • +2

@lomie: I took the "text or from screen" as two seperate things.

if you decline there quote they will charge extra $50 for send it back to there Pick up Service centre.

    • Try holding the phone a bit further back and zooming in, it won't be as clear because of the digital zoom but it won't be out of focus (blury).

how does this compare to oppo reno z and xiaomi ni 9T?

  • +1

This is from there Service centre email:
In case you do not accept the quote please note there will be a return fee applicable of $49.50 to return the unit unrepaired.

  • Isn't V30+ comparable and cheaper than this?

    • Where is the V30+ cheaper than this?

      • jb hi-fi? it has been $400 for like two weeks now

edit: nvm the clearance is over. the price went back up to $799

    • +1

LG v30+ is definitely superior and faster. Also has amoled display. More storage too

    • +3

Maybe, but then you would have to deal with LG's UI and delays in updates and security patches. Android One makes this phone much better value than the sum of its parts.

      • V30+ should have the Android One update now.

        • The V30 is not an Android One phone.

  • So, this price is still up, it's cheaper at Toby Deals and I might e able to score a price match at around ~440
On saying that, I'd be coming from a Pixel 2. How much of a drop would be this change, does anyone who used both know?

    • +1

I've not used a pixel 2 so couldn't comment, but I'm happy with the 8.1 so far. My only gripe is that I've come from a Moto Z Play where the fingerprint scanner was on the front, so I'm finding the rear scanner to be awkwardly placed for my liking.

      • it took a turn and now it looks like I'll go for a Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro… today is decision day

  • Thanks for this.
I just got JBHiFi to price match.
Was hoping to get one of those half-priced Pixel 3's but no love from Google!

    • No problem. I'm pretty happy with mine so far so glad I could be of help.

  • Was looking at Mi 9T Pro, for $100 more.

Worth the difference? I can't read many things about the Xiaomi one and few about the Nokia.

Anyone care to share a thought?
